Akina Mama wa Afrika (AMwA), presents the findings of an influencer mapping exercise conducted in Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, and Zambia to identify and engage key social media influencers driving public discourse on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and feminist advocacy.

The study responds to the increasing resistance against SRHR, which is largely driven by conservative religious, political, and patriarchal forces. With digital platforms emerging as critical spaces for public engagement, advocacy, and movement-building, this report explores how influencers can be effectively leveraged to promote gender justice, counter misinformation, and strengthen feminist narratives across the region.

“The biggest injustice women still face in 2026 is the lack of life-saving maternal health commodities, especially those needed to manage postpartum haemorrhage and preeclampsia, which remain among the leading causes of maternal mortality globally.” — Dorothy, SHARP Coordinator

Every preventable maternal death is not just a health issue but a justice issue. Across many communities, women continue to lose their lives due to stock-outs, weak supply systems and under-prioritization of maternal health commodities that could save lives within minutes.

This #InternationalWomensDay 2026, under the call Rights. Justice. Action., we must recognize that:

🔹 Women’s health is a right — not a privilege.
🔹 Justice means access to life-saving medicines and commodities when they are needed most.
🔹 Action requires governments and health systems to prioritize maternal health financing, procurement, and accountability.

No woman should die giving life simply because the medicines that could save her were unavailable.
