One year ago, I signed the dealership papers for a South Korean brand almost nobody in this market had heard of.

My friends thought I’d lost it.

“TCL is the one moving,” one of them told me. “Why are you betting on a brand nobody knows?”

I didn’t have a great answer. I just believed in the product.

The first few months were brutal. I’d open the shop, arrange the fridges and TVs, and wait. Customers would walk in, look around, and gravitate straight to the names they recognized. Some days I sold nothing. I remember sitting in the shop more than once thinking, maybe my friends were right. Maybe I should just close this dealership and move on.

But something kept me going. Call it stubbornness, call it belief. I kept pushing. Kept explaining the quality to anyone who’d listen.

Then one customer took a chance on a fridge. Then another bought a TV. Then a washing machine.

Word started moving quietly; a satisfied customer telling a neighbor, a neighbor telling a colleague. Before I knew it, referrals became our biggest source of business. The same brand nobody wanted to hear about was now the one people were asking for by name.

Today, that “blunder” is one of the best decisions I’ve made in business.
