Seriously considering making the move to OO9, I really like the Fourdees kits and the smaller scale means a bigger layout…
Do any OO9 modellers on here use DCC? - conscious a lot of the kits use the Bachmann Thomas 009 range chassis’, is it possible to fit decoders to them?
Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond my control I’m probably going to have to part with most of my loco collection. Who tends to give a fair price for buying second hand stock?
(I say second hand, most have only been out the box to be run in for an hour) #TMRGUK
@Possy92 Jesus wept. That’s the condition most of mine are in, as I don’t have a permanent layout to readily use, some genuinely haven’t even been out the box yet.
Absolute chancers!
I won’t bother with them then. Thanks for the advice!
@Possy92 Really? 1/3 of the value!?
The cheek of them considering the price they list their pre-owned stuff for.
Reluctant to do eBay tbh, only had bad experiences selling on there with time wasters and bidders who never want to pay, plus you could have items on there for months.
#OnThisDay 1980: Cornish vicar Rev Peter Denny showed Small World his mesmerising model train set-up that recreated railways from 1907, albeit with an Automatic Crispin computer.
@Modrail@TheUnluckyTug No worries!
I’m reluctant to glue the NEM pocket in place, so have had to completely butcher the body and cab to be left with the die cast base, to be able to screw the pocket onto. Then I’m able to fit the E2 body over the top of it. But it doesn’t look great from low level 😑
@Modrail@TheUnluckyTug Hey, he used mounting putty, I’ve tried a few different ways but mounting putty works as well as anything. The issue I’ve got is with the NEM coupling, it screws through the chassis into the body, so there’s no thread to hold the screw in place, unless the body is on, so annoying
Hey @TheUnluckyTug, two quick questions, how did you manage to
A) Remove the speaker from the Terrier body?
B) Get the baby E2 body to sit (and stay) on the Rails Chassis?
Want to get any cutting of the body done before I start priming.
Looking for recommendations for best way to clean a 3D printed model before priming? Will white spirits do the trick? Or be too harsh.
Also, does anyone have recommendations for boiler/cab handrails and knobs? #TMRGUK
@MattwicksBMR Thanks Matt!, that’s saved me a trip to screwfix, no spirits it is; it’s usually quite the opposite of a weekend!
Any recommendations for 00 gauge handrails? Been avoiding them for a while as I know they can be quite fiddly, but they really complete the look of a model.
@MattwicksBMR Plastic, it’s from shapeways, but very smooth compared to some I’ve seen. Just wouldn’t want to soak it in white spirits then ruin the model before I’ve even began!
Question: are the Hornby DCC ready tenders interchangeable? Like is the socket the wired section goes into universal for all hornby models? #help#tmrguk
