But the real test for frontier AI should be biology and healthcare. That’s where mistakes actually matter. Results: GPT-5.4: 92.2% Qwen3.5-27B: 85% Gemini 3.1 Pro: ~79% A 27B open model that runs on a laptop is only 7 points behind the most powerful AI model on earth — and already beating Gemini on this benchmark. That gap is much smaller than people expected. And it matters. For years hospitals faced an impossible tradeoff: Frontier models → patient data leaves the hospital Local models → not good enough That tradeoff may finally be ending. Qwen3.5-27B runs fully local. No API. No cloud. No patient data leaving the building. HIPAA / PHIPA compliance becomes architecture, not paperwork. Interesting detail: 27B and 122B score almost identically here. Scaling bigger didn’t help much. One caveat: with web-scale training, it’s hard to completely rule out that frontier models like GPT-5.4 may have seen parts of evaluation datasets. Still, the signal is clear: Small models are getting good enough for real clinical AI. And if we want to measure real AI progress, biology and healthcare should be the benchmark. 2026년 3월 6일. 선전 텐센트 빌딩 북측 광장 사람들이 몰려들었다. 전국 각지에서 비행기 기차를 타고 온 사람들이었다, 개발자, 창업자, 직장인, 그리고 퇴직자들. 다양한 연령·직업군이 뒤섞였다. 그들이 줄을 선 이유는 하나. @openclaw 설치를 배우기 위해서다. 텐센트 클라우드 엔지니어 20명이 부스를 차렸다고 한다. 배포, 모델 설정, 메신저 연동까지 무료 원스톱 서비스였다. 수백 건이 그날 하루에 배포됐다. 이게 오늘 사진에 찍힌 장면이다. '전국민 가재 키우기' 열풍 중국에서 OpenClaw는 지금 "전국민 가재 키우기(全民养虾)"라고 불린다. 로고가 가재(🦞)이기 때문이다. GitHub 스타 145,000개. 베이징, 상하이, 선전에서 동시에 오프라인 설치 행사가 열렸다. 텐센트, 알리바바, 바이트댄스 산하 볼캐노엔진이 각자 플랫폼에 OpenClaw를 통합했다. 알리바바의 협업툴 딩톡(DingTalk), 텐센트의 기업용 위챗 WeCom과 연결됐다. 가장 상징적인 사례가 있다. 치타모바일 CEO 푸성(傅盛)은 스키 사고로 고관절 탈구 후 침대에 누운 채로 14일 만에 여러 AI 에이전트 팀을 구축했다. 그 팀은 24시간 자율로 돌아가며 위챗 공식 계정에 10만 조회 글을 만들었고, 트위터 포스트 100만 조회를 달성했다. 왜 중국인가?? 서양에서도 OpenClaw가 유행하고 있다. 그런데 중국의 속도는 다르다. 이유가 있다. 중국인들은 이미 위챗(WeChat) 하나로 모든 것을 해왔다. 메시지, 결제, 쇼핑, 음식 배달, 병원 예약. 하나의 앱 안에서 전부. 슈퍼앱 경험이 체화된 사람들에게 "AI가 내 대신 다 해준다"는 개념은 낯설지 않다. 오히려 자연스럽다. 중국은 이미 세계에서 AI 밀도가 가장 높은 소비자 시장 중 하나다. 그 위에 OpenClaw가 얹혔다. 이게 우리한테 왜 중요한가 이 사진을 다시 보겠다. 퇴직자가 ThinkPad 앞에 앉아 있다. 젊은 자원봉사자가 옆에서 설명한다. 뒤에는 수십 명이 더 기다린다. 이 장면이 의미하는 것은 기술 보급이 아니다. 에이전트 경제의 소비자 베이스가 중국에서 만들어지고 있다는 것이다. 60대가 AI 에이전트를 쓰기 시작하면, 그 에이전트들이 필요로 하는 서비스 수요가 생긴다. 에이전트가 에이전트를 고용하는 ACP 같은 마켓플레이스에서 거래가 늘어난다. 내가 만든 서비스인 한국 알파를 파는 Orion 같은 셀러 에이전트에게 새로운 고객이 생긴다. 지금 중국 광장에서 줄을 서고 있는 그 사람들이, 내년에는 내가 만든 에이전트 서비스의 소비자가 된다. 거품이라는 목소리도 있다 중국 내에서도 회의적인 시선이 있다. "기술을 이용한 사기"라는 말도 나온다. 실제로 AI 에이전트 이름을 팔며 돈을 받는 사례들이 보고되고 있다. 보안 리스크 경고도 나왔다. 설치 과정에서 API 비용만 250달러 이상 소진하고 아무 결과도 못 얻었다는 사용자 사례도 있다. 이건 모든 기술 혁명의 초기에 반복되는 패턴이다. 1990년대 인터넷도 그랬다. 거품과 기술이 함께 온다. 거품은 꺼지지만 기술은 남는다. 질문은 거품이냐 아니냐가 아니다. 당신이 거품이 꺼진 후에 남아있는 쪽에 있느냐가 아닐까 싶다.
