Imagine a teacher working relentlessly for 700 days with some students and then when the students sit an exam at the end and the results aren’t what the leader wants, they tell them they aren’t good enough. They suddenly need ‘support’ and scrutiny ramps up to unbearable levels. They are now, all of a sudden, ‘seen’ differently. Horrible.

It crushes teachers - their morale is sunk, their confidence shattered and insecurity and paranoia seeps into their daily life. This can lead to an emotional and mental breakdown.

This is the UK education system and some school leaders evangelical commitment to raising standards by linking student outcomes to teacher quality in totality.

@rexs_ma Unfortunately we live in a day where you can't just simply allow a student to leave lesson for the toilet anymore, if you do that, the other 29 kids all want to leave too causes so much disruption and wasted time

@DeputyGrocott We did this last year and it was beneficial for everyone teachers don't recognise 10 mins on to the day because they're usually there late anyway, kids got an extra week off and everyone came back for autumn 2 really refreshed - our academy trust decided against it though

@DeputyGrocott This is why more schools should jump on the 2 week Oct half term wagon - we extended our day by 10 mins but meant we got an extra week - trust bombed it this year though lol

Really lost it in midfield since Kenny has been out. Absolute unsung leader and organiser on the pitch. Drives the team, even if he has to drop back to collect the ball. We looked good with him and Pelle. Slimane, Maghama look awful.

I know people are worried about fuel prices. And I get it. You get to the pump, watch the numbers climb, and wonder why it's costing so much more than it used to.

The reality is that global events are pushing up costs, and families here at home are feeling the impact.

But I won't accept that there's nothing I can do to help.

That's why from today, you'll be able to see petrol and diesel prices on Google Maps, compare nearby stations and find the cheapest option before you fill up.

It's a small change, but if there's a practical way to help people keep more money in their pocket, I'll do it.
