Regarding youths move to RM, I see fans saying it's good riddance, loyalty, bla bla bla. How can you even expect "loyalty" from teens or even pre-teens? You can't. The club has to make effort to keep them. Once they're a fully functioning adult, then we can talk about loyalty.
Another plus is Hjulmand is more of a pivot than Gomes. On the other hand, I was hoping the pivot signing will be someone with great playmaking ability (like Koke). Not sure if Hjulmand has that level. I don't think Johnny also has that level so far.
Don't know much about Hjulmand. On paper, the main thing excites me about him over Joao Gomes is his height (which Atleti is lacking). He'll probably cost twice of what Atleti paid for Johnny (€24m) but honestly I don't know if he'll be much better.
At the end, I just think that with players like Baena (who should play more centrally), Giuliano, Grimaldo (who's not the strongest defensively), Llorente, Pubill-Hancko (who like to attack), Kang-In (who doesn't have clear position), 3-5-2 might be more suitable than back-4.
With the player Atleti looks to have and sign, it's clear for me that 3-5-2 might be the best option. Grimaldo LWB, Baena 1 of the midfield-3 (always hated him as winger), Llorente the right side of the midfield-3 (his position in 20/21), Giuliano RWB.
@aniquefromthe6 They (except Vitolo) were signings that looked good at the time. A club can only make a decision based on what's known at the time. On the other hand, I wouldn't sign any of those players Juve signed based on their form at the time.
Seeing the amount of money Juve spent on players like Koopmeiners, Douglas Luiz, Openda, and will spend on Kolo Muani, I feel Atleti have it quite good in the transfer market.
🔴⚫️🇵🇹 Gonçalo Ramos will be record signing for AC Milan, way in excess of €50m as @JamesHorncastle reported.
Understand the fee can go well over €60/70m for Paris Saint-Germain with add-ons included.
Medical already sorted and deal 100% done.

I'm gonna be super honest (which might sound harsh & ungrateful). I don't think Lookman is a perfect fit for Cholo style. In fact his style shouldn't fit at all on paper. The fact that he managed to have all those goal contributions this past 6 months is unbelievable.
@aniquefromthe6 Still not sure about Lookman as SS, even with Osimhen as the CF. Would be glad if it works but for now I don't see Lookman in SS role at Atleti. I think Kang-In would perform better in that role.
On paper Grimaldo would work much better as LWB, LM, LW, or even CM, instead of LB in Atleti. So, either sign another CB to enable back-3 (w/ Grimaldo as LWB) or sign another LB / don't sell Ruggeri (w/ Grimaldo as LM/LW). For the latter, Atleti might not even need Nico anymore.
Signing Grimaldo makes Lookman position even more difficult imo. Playing them in back-4 as LB-LM would make the left flank unbelievably weak defensively. Ideally, Grimaldo is played in back-3 as a LWB. But, in that setup I don't exactly see Lookman as 1 of the front-2 striker.
