Today @freepress turns 20!
To mark this milestone, I wrote this personal reflection and appreciation of colleagues, past and present.
I first arrived at Free Press back in November 2004 — and never left. So this story is my story, too.

The site formerly known as Twitter once was a place to share my work, reach journalists and politicians, and learn about the world. Elon Musk ruined it -- supercharging hate, racism, Islamophobia + antisemitism. I can't and won't participate any longer. https://t.co/OoqEi187fQ
Just a trio of free speech absolutists brainstorming whether they can manufacture a way to lock up my colleagues over reporting the richest man on the planet admits is accurate but caused him grief, good times.
New research out today from @freepressaction on why California's "save journalism" bill won't work -- but will create a clickbait gold rush that will hurt local, independent and ethnic media outlets. https://t.co/IuOnw57zLw
Every day, our hearts are broken anew. And with our grief, there is fear.
Despite worldwide calls for ceasefire, every day brings another massacre.
As the cycle of violence and vengeance spirals & spreads, we fear for so many people who are in danger.
And we fear for Jews.
People keep telling me that the situation in Gaza is “complicated”. There’s nothing complicated about being able to say killing innocent people is wrong and needs to stop. We said it when it was Hamas. We can say it now that it’s Israel. This is wrong. This needs to stop.
@FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel said it best: "We now have 21 million households enrolled nationwide. I think that adds up to 21 million reasons we have come too far with this program to turn back now."
TAKE ACTION: Tell Congress to fund the ACP!

Battle for the Net is BACK 💻⚡️
As reported this morning by @politico's Morning Tech, we just relaunched https://t.co/dERoski0Pr w/ @fightfortheftr & over 30 partner organizations.
It's time to undo the damage done by Trump's FCC Chair Ajit Pai and restore #netneutrality!
One huge step closer to restoring real #netneutrality and essential oversight of broadband networks under Title 2.
Thank you @JRosenworcelFCC@GeoffreyStarks & Anna Gomez for your leadership.

@haroldfeld Rosenworcel is demolishing her opponents’ arguments with common sense: broadband is essential (literally a utility … that debate is over), FCC needs to be able to act on public safety, security and privacy, we should have on uniform set of protections for the whole country, etc.
