I'm delighted to be able to share that my first ever guest blog post is now live! I had a fantastic time during my first season as a bat field ecologist, and David kindly invited me to write more about my experience.

@lizardschwartz You'd think. It's amazing how badly some people react when you try to stop them or their hyperactive children too - apparently asking them to stop and approach slowly or let your dog approach them instead makes you a horrible person. Is "can we say hi?" really so difficult?
People asking us about the very small #bumblebees they’ve encountered (if they’re lucky this year!😔) over the past few weeks.
Wanting to know if they are a specific species.
So here’s a brief thread to explain what they are.
Please #retweet if you find it interesting.

@skwinnicki (I'm not sponsored by them or anything, I promise! Just someone who also has meal prep issues and has been saved from nutrient deficiency by the convenience of Huel)
@skwinnicki Would Huel (served with additional whatever you need/want to bulk it up a bit) be an option for you? They do some gluten free hot and savoury meals now which are really nice as well as the shakes. Cheaper, more nutritious, and just as easy as normal ready meals with less waste.
We're involved with NERC’s Research Experience Placement (REP) scheme this summer!
It gives undergraduate students the opportunity to work on a project during a 6-8 week placement at one of our institutions.

First bat survey of the season last night (and first in my new job), and we had an emergence in the first half hour!
Will this good luck continue all through the season? I can't wait to find out!
I have a confession to make. After my dissertation I swore I never wanted to see/use R again. It's been 10 blissful, R-free months.
This morning I modified an old code to sort data for work because that was quicker and easier than figuring it out in excel.
I enjoyed it too. 😐

@howlieT People who use big decorative rocks as driveway markers on narrow lanes with no passing places, but let grass grow up over the rocks so they are no longer visible.
