I used to do that with Math in high school. Teaching them to do things that they thought were impossible in math. They learned even with all their gaps, but now the pacing is so tight and there’s no time to build any confidence. It has become rather miserable for the students and the teacher.

I also refuse to pay for supplies. After 2 years of watching kids ask for pencils because it was easier than going in their backpack to get one and picking up intentionally broken pencils off the floor I said enough.

Tissues are always in shortage. I submit tissue requests and none arrive and I stopped buying them. I got a roll of toilet paper from the custodian instead.

It’s a great example of how toxic it is to work in education where expressed disagreement is met with being ostracized and looked down upon. Differing views are aggressively suppressed even when attempting to solve a problem. It is unlike anything I have ever experienced (4 year teacher retired software engineer)
