Pirates @ Astros: Game 2 of 3
THINGS TO WATCH FOR:
- Oneil Cruz: Oneil Cruz is having a really strange year. He has 14 home runs, 19 stolen bases, and 93 strikeouts. The last 6 games he has 3 home runs, 2 stolen bases, and 9 strikeouts. It’s absolutely all or nothing for him and it’s honestly baffling to watch. Let’s see who shows up tonight
- Jhostynxon Garcia: This dude is having a bad time out there. He’s played 10 games and he’s slashing .214/.241/.214, which beyond just being a really palindromic stat line it’s also really bad. He literally isn’t doing anything, and I’m starting to see why we didn’t see more of him at the start of the season. He’s got a lot of development still to come. Thankfully the team is doing well enough that we can probably get away with these struggles for now.
- Paul Skenes: I think last week he suffered from poor defense and otherwise was solid, but still, it’s been a while since we’ve seen one of those electric, untouchable Paul Skenes outings. I’m not saying I’m worried, just that it’s been a while. The longer this goes on the longer I worry he’s gonna be out of the cy young race, especially with the season a guy like Chris Sanchez is having. But again, not worried.
As you are all undoubtedly aware, the Knicks play the Spurs tonight in game 1 of the nba finals. OG Anunoby will guard Wemby and he will do a great job. I think the public is penciling in a Wemby coronation but the Knicks have the power of god and friendship behind them. Jalen Brunson is the last of a dying breed of American superstar basketball players and he will make his greatness known.
As always, it’s Knicks in 4

Thought exercise:
If you could somehow ensure that the pirates would lose 2-0 in the wild card series, meaning that they don’t win a playoff game but are still in one for the first time in over a decade, would you take that deal?
