AKA, The Grobber. Overnight talent at 670 The Score, human encyclopedia, alleged coffee spiller, nose bleeder, studio pooper, hater of Mike Martz. #RIPGrobber
I'm so happy @markgrotesports has accepted the challenge and has agreed to take the overnight Mic. No one can replace the Legend, the Grobber but Les loved Mark like a brother. Midnight tonight. #ThankuMark
I’m no Mark Grote - who is no Les Grobstein - but I do some of my best work before 5am. That’s why I’ll be hosting some of the nights Mark isn’t.
Grote is 60% insane, and I’m only about 20%. It literally takes multiple people to recreate Les, who was 100% certifiable.
This is such a good story. The Reader has a bunch of great sports journalist profiles from the 1980s and 90s, including ones on @North2North and Chet Coppock.
It's linked in my stories, but @joravben wrote the all-time Les Grobstein story back in 1997. That's the one that inspired my Grobber journalism: https://t.co/EMNvWfxUbc
I know we are all pushing around @jon_greenberg Grobber article but let’s not forget the original Les bio-piece. Great stuff by @joravben back in 1998. https://t.co/6fBUYQzqru
Rest In Peace Les Grobstein.
“Grobber” - Thank you for all the late night radio memories over the years.
Some of the greatest times in #ChicagoHistory.
Heartbroken. Les was a Chicago treasure. I was a regular middle of the night listener and he was always so kind to me when we’d catch up in a press box. Our city lost an irreplaceable voice. Prayers of comfort to his loved ones & @670TheScore family ♥️
