Thread : My take on the @VALORANT MEA Qualifiers during @ENC_EN

I don’t usually speak about systems. I’m here to play fair and square and to propose rational solutions. First, credit where it’s due : We @TeamMAR_Esports 🇲🇦 finished top 2, losing to @Saudi_Esports 🇸🇦 in the Grand Finals. They are a top nation and will do well during @ENC_EN.

Now, let’s take a step back and look at how the structure is built, and why North Africa is indeed sidelined.

1) We moved from 2 @ENC_EN spots for the MEA region (Middle East & Africa) to a split system : 1 spot for MENA (Middle East & North Africa) and 1 spot for Sub-Saharan Africa. This is a completely new regional structure in esports, introduced 1 month before the event. The question is not competitive level, it’s representation logic : why is Africa split, and why is North Africa grouped away from the rest of the continent ?

2) Host region slot : the best-performing GCC country gets an invite while still competing in qualifiers. So we reached a Grand Final where one finalist was already invited… So the final becomes a match where one team is effectively competing for a slot, while the other is already secured and competing to qualify a GCC country…
That has never been seen in the history of mankind, in all sports & esports combined.

3) The Solidarity slot : a team that did not qualify in any game becomes eligible for a direct invite. The idea is clear: they want to improve global representation. But then again, it failed to do so. Right now, all regions are guaranteed representation… except North Africa, which ends up effectively excluded from the Solidarity slot (Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria qualified for at least 2 games+).

So the outcome feels like:
ENC = The World - North Africa.

My solution : Why @ENC_EN not invite Saudi Arabia directly ? They are historically the best nation in the MENA region in Valorant and they are a top team. Why not keep 2 slots for the MEA region ? Then even if no African team qualifies, you can still use THE SOLIDARITY SLOT to invite one and achieve FULL GLOBAL representation in ENC…

All we ever wanted in esports is not to feel marginalized, and i don’t think Africa haven’t been feeling it for years now.
