He may have made mistakes with some of his political comments, but Gary Lineker was a legendary player and an outstanding presenter for many years. He represented both England and his clubs with class and professionalism. Whatever you think of his political views, he deserves a bit of respect.

The more government tries to replace parents, the weaker parental responsibility becomes. Breakfast clubs, potty training, football camps, free bikes, free this, free that. Schools should educate. Parents should parent. It's time governments stopped trying to raise our children and started expecting parents to do it.

The plot keeps getting better. Sturgeon ends up living in the heart of the “enemy”, Humza talked about leaving if things didn’t go his way, Salmond is now part of history, and that leaves Swinney. At this rate, the speeches about Scotland’s future are lasting longer than the political careers behind them. For a party that’s spent years telling everyone else they’re the problem, the biggest obstacles increasingly seem to be of their own making.
