@EmmaSzewczak You can be let through them in some places but you don't have the full autonomy of walking out through an ungated store. You'd need to request assistance from a member of staff that could be prioritising serving paying customers. so you're just stuck there.

@EmmaSzewczak lotta Americans bumping off in here. In Europe there is an increase in shops having gated exits to stores, where you have to scan a receipt barcode to exit. I've been in them in NL, Pl, CZ, Fr, Ger and in the UK. it is not every single store but more becoming prevalent.
