“El Señor de los Anillos: La Caza del Gollum” está oficialmente programada para llegar en diciembre de 2027.

La película será dirigida por Andy Serkis, quien convirtió a Gollum en uno de los personajes más emblemáticos de la historia del cine. Peter Jackson ofrecerá su apoyo como productor.

Se espera que el proyecto cuente con gran parte del cast original: Elijah Wood volviendo como Frodo Bolsón, Sir Ian McKellen regresando como Gandalf, Lee Pace regresando como Thranduil, así como la llegada de nuevos actores como Jamie Dornan interpretando a Aragorn, Kate Winslet interpretando a Marigol (abuela de Gollum) y Leo Woodall como un montaraz.

La película explorará uno de los capítulos más importantes no contados en la Tierra Media. Antes de los eventos de La Comunidad del Anillo, Gandalf y Aragorn buscaron en secreto a Gollum en un esfuerzo por descubrir lo que sabía sobre el Anillo, la Comarca y cierto hobbit llamado Bolsón.
