I recorded a flu congested video about what a year of facilitating Not the Void has been like. It's very low tech, but it's sincere!

Not the Void UK is not just transgender people inclusive, but we acknowledge that the unjust, harmful systems transgender people interact with can often increase feelings of not wanting to live anymore.

Not the Void stands against pathologisation, we will keep what you share confidential and we will not try to fix you, silver line the grief you are feeling or censor your anger. You remain in control of what you share, whether you go on camera, what you tell us.

I will reply to your emails, but it won't be a consistently swift response and I wanted to be clear where my limits are so I can focus on the times I can support people.
Just a heads up, our Not the Void email inbox is only checked by me and I balance that work with looking after my health and caring responsibilities. If it's your first contact I try to respond within the hour but otherwise, it might take me 48 hours to reply /1
Curiosity is a key Not the Void value so please send me questions, I love to recieve them and answer you. Our website is nearly finished and that will make info sharing much easier. However I can't provide a 24 hour crisis response. /2
I just calculated how many attendances our Not the Void UK group has had since May 2024 and we've seen 493 attendances (some will be regulars, some will be occasional attendees.) Over Xmas week, we saw 54 attendances alone.
Collectively, we've spent 55+ hours this year talking about suicide, not counting facilitator session planning, any one to one support for members, and de and pre briefs.
We all need money and the resources to live our lives. No government has the right to deprive citizens of the resources we agree to share as part of the welfare state to sustain each other. Workers deserve rights and pay. We stand with you.
Not the Void holds to a few crucial paradigm shifts, and one is that we are moving away from pathologizing individual people for how they cope and toward responding to the injustices that people face in the wider society we live in. /1
Seeing the NCISH report on recent UK suicide data, I noticed how living alone and being bereaved were key stressors for people dying by suicide. If this is you, at Not the Void, you will be among peers who are facing this too. /5
