Shaykh Abd al-Aziz al-Tarifi may Allah hasten his release said:
“Therefore, Allāh emphasized the matter of the natural disposition and warned against its alteration, because it affects the understanding of His commands and prohibitions, and belief in their causes and objectives
due to their deep rooting and intermingling with the human constitution, just as water consists of its elements. What can be changed differs in the amount of time and strength required for that change, depending on how firmly it is rooted in the natural disposition.”
The natural origin is dominant and compelling, even when the intellect is misled by arguments.

to respond and to cover themselves immediately. This is the case even when the level of conviction in both of the aforementioned situations is the same, because the first person is departing from the sound natural disposition, whereas the second is returning to it.
