This is a masterclass in statistical lying to manufacture a constitutional grievance. You claim the Prime Minister is taking “up to £4bn from Scotland's pensioners to pay for social care in England”, but your own Deputy First Minister’s letter admits that £4bn figure is an unadjusted cash-terms extrapolation for 2049–50, nearly a quarter of a century away. Terrifying pensioners today with compounding spreadsheet projections for 24 years in the future is cynical politics. More importantly, the claim that Scottish money is going south to fund English care is completely fabricated. Social care is fully devolved. If the UK Government invests money into an English National Care Service, the Barnett formula automatically triggers massive, proportional block grant windfalls straight into Holyrood's bank account. Scotland doesn't pay for English care; Holyrood gets a cash payout because of it. The ultimate irony is that Scotland’s population is ageing faster than the rest of the UK. Scottish pensions are currently underwritten by a 68-million-strong UK tax base and an annual £25.3bn UK Treasury fiscal transfer. If Scotland were independent, facing a 10% structural deficit without a central bank, you couldn't maintain existing state pensions on Day 1, let alone in 2050. Honest John?😂

Do you actually understand why countries like Ukraine, Croatia, and Estonia adopted new currencies in under 10 months? They were fleeing the total collapse of economies and hyper-inflating rubles and dinars which were caused by civil wars. Comparing the survival tactics of a collapsing 1990s Soviet bloc to deliberately uncoupling a highly integrated modern Western economy is deeply embarrassing. Reassuring Scottish pensioners by pointing out that 1992 Bosnia managed it is an act of economic illiteracy😂.

Establishing a new fiat currency for an advanced Western economy is absolutely not “more or less the same” as a collapsing 1990s Soviet state printing stopgap money to survive hyperinflation.
Separating mortgages, pensions, and billions in trade from the Bank of England requires massive foreign exchange reserves and institutional market credibility. It does not magically happen just because a nationalist blog called the “Scottish Currency Group” wrote a theoretical paper. Scotland was not “annexed” 320 years ago. The Union of the Crowns occurred because a Scottish King inherited the English throne, and the 1707 Union was voluntarily voted for by the Scottish Parliament to bail out their own failed colonial disaster at Darien. Scotland wasn't a colony; it enthusiastically participated in and disproportionately ran the British Empire. Shouting sovereign citizen slogans about “No UK” and posting dramatic clip-art of broken chains does not magically erase three centuries of constitutional reality.

The European Commission confirmed that an independent Scotland would drop out of the bloc and face a lengthy reapplication process. The fact that the UK voted for Brexit in 2016 does not turn the constitutional reality of 2014 into a conspiracy. Furthermore, the SNP's fantasy 2014 oil revenue predictions completely collapsed by 2015, entirely vindicating the unionist warnings about volatility.
