Freshwater, estuarine & marine scientist @IMASUTAS on sustainability & management of environmental resources & values in Aus and Globally #DataScience#SciComm
Australia's new icebreaker RSV #nuyina arriving in #Hobart this wet lockdown morning. She put on a show letting nothing dampen the spirits of her arrival home and new job supporting Australian Antarctic research.
@swarmofthought 1st, you are not mediocre 🤩 2nd, I would agree if it were to accept our humanity & be more forgiving 2 ourselves. Scientists generally give more 2 work than life, but need to accept we have responsibilities 4 our welfare, families etc. 2 balance & we like others have limitations
It was an honour to join so many amazing Australian marine scientists in contributing to the State & Trends of Australia's Oceans Report showcasing the wide-ranging research & establishing baselines. Check out the online interactive report at https://t.co/suBDTqLocC
Announcing the State and Trends of Australia’s Ocean Report 📢

@GrettaPecl Thanks for this relatable thread! Bullying def comes from above AND below (& I’m not that high!). It can affect how u interact with everyone & take time to reconcile with bc many of us wouldn’t even think 2 act that unprofessionally. Be the positive change we want to see!
Recent study explores cumulative human impacts on the world's oceans, finding that for 59% of oceans impacts are increasing. Climate change an increasingly important stressor, as well as fishing, shipping & land-based pollution. https://t.co/bgpXig9tem
Ahoy, Mateys! Meet the incredible researchers sailing across the Indian Ocean aboard our RV Investigator. 🚢 #WorldOceansDay ^GK

We are making final preparations for our Second International Indian Ocean Expedition @iioe_2 voyage on RV Investigator. Info about Australia’s only blue water research vessel and how we do science at sea: https://t.co/Lxatcj6N7T
@swarmofthought @XEBernal @DrAnaQueiros@iseult5 Yes! That's wonderful news! There are so many endemic bugs for us to hunt! Please let me know your plans closer and we will try to catch up! Even in Sydney!
@swarmofthought @XEBernal @DrAnaQueiros@iseult5 Thank you for championing #WomenInSTEM @swarmofthought! You are creating the safe, inclusive science community we want! But you’re an amazing scientist in your own right! You work hard and earn it! It would be an absolute pleasure to work with you again! You’re a great colleague!
Our new paper will assist scientists & scientific institutions make informed decisions regarding their responses to #climatechange. It is timely for scientists to critically consider their own approach if we are to ameliorate or adapt to unwanted outcomes. #Anthropocene#Futures
Just accepted in @EarthsFutureEiC 'Proactive, reactive and inactive pathways for scientists in a changing world'. It's time for scientists & scientific institutions to critically consider their own approach towards #climatechange research. Full text https://t.co/ZogQegXpHQ
