out here blowing in the wind 💨

I am blown away and humbled by this incredibly kind tribute. Thank you, Caterina.

Just read that Helen Ubiñas (@NotesFromHeL ) is moving on from the @PhillyInquirer . I wrote a Substack essay as a tribute to her work. She’s chronicled the toll of gun violence here, demanding accountability from leaders.

Ok, this made me LOL.

Here is the fundraising information for Azir Harris. If you are in a position to give, I know the family would be very grateful. https://t.co/UGFBu34q0r

Woke up with a heavy heart and Azir on my mind. Gratefully overwhelmed with messages from people who want to help his family, including the mother of his child, who was also shot, and their 1-year-old son. I promise that as soon as I have that information I will pass it along.

Mayor talks about growing “trust in government.” I mean, I’ve got some thoughts on how to start doing that in Philly on her watch. First, real transparency: https://t.co/nMkv6aV0RY Also, the math still ain’t mathing here for me: https://t.co/aqPRExA6fj

[Helen Ubiñas @NotesFromHeL]

Mayor asks residents to give the city some “grace” while they get everything back up and running. 🚩 Anytime someone has asked me to show them some grace, I’ve been on the losing end of some hot mess.

[Helen Ubiñas @NotesFromHeL]

I mean, I maybe woulda started this by thanking the residents of Philadelphia for having to put up with this mess for the last 8 days — they deserve a round of applause, but that’s just me. 🤷🏻‍♀️

[Helen Ubiñas @NotesFromHeL]

Oh, oh…we finally got to the residents! “it wasn’t pleasant for anyone. We did the best we could with that we had.”

Tonight, I spoke to 17-year-old Azir Harris, who was shot in Philly and likely paralyzed. News to you? That’s because he was shot a day after the Parkland school shooting, and because we don’t pay enough attention to everyday gun violence. https://t.co/dqQMcMCoD9

What if all these honorable heroes, in the National Guard, in the Marines, in all the areas this administration is using for their sick gains, stood up to this insanity and said: NO! https://t.co/RUYphUvvjC

[Gavin Newsom @GavinNewsom]

U.S. Marines have served honorably across multiple wars in defense of democracy. They are heroes.

They shouldn't be deployed on American soil facing their own countrymen to fulfill the deranged fantasy of a dictatorial President.

This is un-American.

Says the world-class hater.

[Stephen Miller @StephenM]

Los Angeles is all the proof you need that mass migration unravels societies.

You can have all the other plans and budgets you want.

If you don’t fix migration, then nothing else can be fixed — or saved.

[Sophia A. Nelson @IAmSophiaNelson]

This is more bullshit from the mainstream media that is terrified of the tyrant in the @WhiteHouse just because you become a journalist, member of congress or otherwise, you do NOT give up your First Amendment Rights. I stand with #TerryMoran he is a free American citizen too.

[Bill Kristol @BillKristol]

Fact check: True.

[Michael Collazo @MCollazo215]

I wanted to share this from @NotesFromHeL. Indeed, #PhillyRicans don't have the votes or the money to wield any power. I can talk all day as to why, but many of the dynamics also take hold in #PuertoRico, impacting residents there, too:

Hey @SEPTAPHILLY @SEPTA_SOCIAL your conductor on the CHW into CC right now is downright delightful. Watching his personal “good morning” to passengers turn these frowns upside down. Thought you should know.

[mitchell clair @mitcheagle]

@NotesFromHeL @GovernorShapiro @PhillyInquirer I actually think he made the right decision. The story needs to be seen as a national story, not a local or even a regional one.

[Helen Ubiñas @NotesFromHeL]

Glad the guv and his fam are safe. But dayuuuum @GovernorShapiro, how you gonna do @PhillyInquirer like this… Nice piece. Woulda been nicer in your hometown paper. Next time you wanna write, hit me up…I got connections over here. 😜

If you jumped on the “reckoning” bandwagon for clout, cash or to distract from your role in environments that needed a reckoning, and are suddenly silent on all the DEI rollbacks and the industry-wide purging of journalists of color, you’re the problem: https://t.co/dJrk0ycLxU
