Back when we lived in Austin, we drove 3 hours, booked hotels, did the whole thing just to see him live. I keep telling myself tickets are expensive now, but they were expensive then too
Truth is, motherhood has changed my relationship with joy. Now every outing feels weighed down by exhaustion, sleep deprivation, worry, and guilt.
I imagine being at the concert, but I also imagine coming home to another sleepless night, wondering if my baby cried for me
But maybe this is exactly what’s shaping me as a Human being, not just a Mother.
Perseverance right now looks like showing up again tomorrow, even when today took everything out of me.
Lately I’ve been reflecting on The Obstacle Is the Way by @RyanHoliday - the idea that the struggle isn’t in the way, it is the way.
The sleepless nights, the constant giving, the parts of me I’ve had to let go of, it all feels like resistance.
Motherhood feels like a series of quiet deaths.
The person I was before disappeared in pieces.
Through sleepless nights, aching exhaustion, and all the highs and lows, another person was shaped.
Stronger. Steadier. Unfamiliar
