@karpuzumbrella@ITBERYAN2 I don't really think whose fault it is really matters?
It's okay to realize what we say can hurt others.
It won't be the end of the world if we keep doing it... and we don't owe anybody else silence, but it IS important to acknowledge how we affect vulnerable people.
@karpuzumbrella@ITBERYAN2 How Ralsei ends updoesn't pertain to me, so please don't glean me as caring one way or the other in that regard.
It just makes me sad that the UTDR community has been so quick to callously put others down with this discourse. They don't even realize they're doing it.
@karpuzumbrella@ITBERYAN2 We can write it off as being "not that serious" if you really like.
And really? You're not wrong.
But things don't really have to be serious to hurt other people's feelings. If you're okay with that, then that's valid, but don't be shocked if people express those hurt feelings.
@karpuzumbrella@ITBERYAN2 There is a slight difference between a headcanon and what someone genuinely believes will happen officially in a story.
You're obviously allowed to think and say whatever. I'm just trying to make sure you understand that sharing those views will make people feel lesser.
@karpuzumbrella@ITBERYAN2 That's correct.
But I was not arguing they don't, and it is dodging the point.
It's insensitive to 'guess' what someone will be, even if they are fictional, because you are implying, to real people, that you think they should be a certain way based on how they present.
@karpuzumbrella@ITBERYAN2 It's different, but it's not different enough. By doing this, you're signaling to real genderfluid people that you don't respect their identity. It's gross, even if you don't intend it to be.
@GearheadGorilla@The_Icebreaker2@cishetsusie2 It's not the same thing. Frisk never does anything outside of the player's control, so they can definitely be a self insert.
Kris does things completely outside the player's control. So, they cannot be a self-insert. They are their own person, not for us to project upon.
I firmly believe that this kind of thing is going to ultimately lead to a massive backlash against all the ground disability advocates have clawed out.
This is not how normal people function! You're on a powerful performance enhancing drug.
@k0uzan Sorry for the late reply.
But there's that one monster from the apartments in DR that asks Kris what it's like to have blood, presumably because they're human. Yes, Susie bleeds, but it seems like it might be more of a per-monster basis thing. And Sans is, uh... a skeleton?
@Retro_buoy @splargismcpluto @bluescreened800 Dude frame-1 blocked me, yeah. I just wish it was easier to get pro-censorship folks to understand the kind of harm their rhetoric is capable of. They risk their own freedom and autonomies over not wanting to lay eyes on things that 'ick' them. It hurts me.
I know that the main idea is 'trans women are women so clarifying born-as-a-woman is othering', but... trans women ARE women, so shouldn't it not matter? It feels like they're ashamed of being trans, when they really shouldn't be.
I'm sure I'm too stupid to truly understand, but it feels like people who take issue with this sort of language are missing the forest for the trees. Isn't it okay to not always have been one way, but become what you wanted to be later on? Why minimize the struggles you've faced?
saw a tweet that said "i hope the proshitters with 'anticensorship' in their bios have the same energy for real-life censorship and the surveillance state that they do for their incest rape fics" meanwhile i've never met a single "proshipper" who ignores those things
@AmyCattz@Mysticc_doodles There are certainly other reasons they're NB, and this is only an interpretation, but I don't think it's harmful to analyze things like ASAB in this context as long as you have a level head.
@AmyCattz@Mysticc_doodles - them to have to put up with things like getting all of Asriel's hand-me-downs for clothes, and being constantly compared to him. Kris choosing to be nonbinary is an important thing to understand. It's how they've come into their own outside their brother's legacy and influence.
@Aleix_rysowac @CalKicksAss At the end of the day, if you decide you don't want to draw it, that's also okay. You owe nothing to anybody. I just hope that such a decision comes from a place of your own feelings on the matter, and isn't influenced by anybody else.
@Aleix_rysowac @CalKicksAss Nah, it's absolutely out of pocket for anyone, including OP, to belittle someone else's art in such reductive terms. They don't have the right. You, as a creative, are entitled to make anything you want, and fuck what anyone else thinks. Do NOT fall for puritan guilt tripping BS.
