I've been using this idea of triggers and "pre-living" scenarios for a while now. When my daughter interrupts me in my office, I've pre-lived how to respond (turning away from my work, smiling, looking her in the eye). I do this because of one specific time when I brought her to tears because of how I responded much differently. :(
