Many people ask us why we choose to hike naked instead of just sunbathing on a beach. For us, taking off our hiking gear is a game-changer. Here is why we do it, where you can do it safely, and our top tips for beginners! 👇

THE BENEFITS:

1️⃣ The Ultimate A/C: No sweaty shirts or chafing pants. Hiking naked allows your skin to breathe and regulate temperature naturally. You literally feel the forest breeze on every inch of your body.

2️⃣ Radical Body Acceptance: When you are focused on climbing a hill or crossing a river, you stop judging your body’s appearance and start appreciating its strength.

3️⃣ True Immersion: You stop being an "observer" of nature and become a part of it.

WHERE CAN YOU PRACTICE IT?
Finding the right spot is key. Here are some of our favorites:

-Germany (Harz): The absolute Mecca! They actually have the Harzer Naturistenstieg, an officially marked 20km trail specifically for naked hikers.

-Catalonia (Pyrenees & Costa Brava): Our home! Wild, remote mountains and hidden coastal trails where you can hike for hours in total peace.

-Scandinavia: Deep forests and a very open-minded culture regarding nature and nudity.

OUR TOP 3 EXPERT TIPS:

-The "Sarong Rule": Always have a pareo or light towel tied to the outside of your backpack. If you hear a large group or families approaching, you can cover up in two seconds out of respect.

-Timing is everything: Avoid weekends. Tuesday mornings are your best friend to find empty trails.

-Proper Footwear: You can drop the clothes, but NEVER drop the hiking boots! Safety first

My local naturist resort has brochures advertising the place and I’ve wondered how people would react if they saw them at the brochure stand in a public library. There’s no nudity in it but I wonder the types of reactions it would generate from the discovery of a campground.
