JUNGLE JUSTICE: THE HYPOCRISY OF THE SOUTHERN NIGERIANS!

Everywhere you look in this country, you can see rot in the system. The complicity of those who should know better is evident, and the vices that have become normalized persist across different parts of Nigeria. From chronic underdevelopment in all six geopolitical zones, including the oil producing states and the so-called economic hubs, to the regions that pride themselves on their religiosity, there’s no shortage of poor leadership.

However, one thing I find both amusing and troubling is how quickly the South amplifies the problems of the North, often presenting them as unique or exclusive to us, totally oblivious to theirs.

For clarity, I am not excusing the North. I have addressed our issues many times, particularly regarding insecurity. In fact, some readers may recall that I was arrested by the DSS in 2021 during the administration of late President Buhari after I criticized the handling of the Tegina schoolgirls’ abduction. I have also written openly about the failures of northern leaders, including my 2012 article, "19 Northern Governors: The Certified Parasites." I have consistently urged young
northerners to build capacity and equip themselves to add value to Arewa and the country as a whole. Yes, we have been vocal in our criticisms and have held our leaders accountable.

What I rarely see happen, is that same objectivity from many in the South. Whenever something occurs in the North, they swiftly condemn all northerners collectively, presenting it as if the entire region is guilty or that such acts are widespread and culturally accepted.

Take jungle justice as an example. The killing of Deborah in Sokoto is often cited as a favorite reference point by Nigerians from the South. For the record, my position has always been clear: Deborah should have been handed over to the authorities if she committed any crime. No one has the right to pass judgment outside the law. Her killing was jungle justice, plain and simple. Does that mean blasphemy is condoned? Absolutely not. But it should be the courts, not a mob, that decides.

However, here’s the hypocrisy: that same jungle justice is also widespread in the South. Burning people alive with tires, stoning them, or using cutlass to unailve them is rampant all over the South.

Many high-profile killings of northerners have occurred there in recent years. Harira Jubril and her four daughters were murdered in Anambra in 2022 by suspected ESN operatives. Sixteen northerners were lynched and burned in Uromi, Edo State, in 2025. The violence at Sasa market in Ibadan in 2021 left many Hausa residents dead and displaced. In the same year, armed separatists shot dead northern traders in Orlu and Umuaka, Imo State. These are not rumors; these are facts.

Yet, somehow, these incidents are downplayed or ignored. When you mention them, some people respond by saying Deborah was killed “in the name of Islam,” as if that magically makes the killing of northerners acceptable merely because it
wasn’t done “in the name of Christianity,” even though the perpetrators were Christians.

Even in the Southwest, where many present themselves as morally superior, the jungle justice carried out by the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) is conveniently forgotten. OPC began as a rights group but quickly morphed into a vigilante outfit linked to violent clashes across Lagos in the late ’90s and early 2000s. Human Rights Watch documented killings ranging from beheadings, torture, arson, and ethnic attacks in areas such as Ketu, Mile 12, Ajegunle, Idi-Araba, Ojo, and Isolo. Northern traders, civilians, and even police
officers were victims, with official estimates of the death toll nearing 500. Yet this history rarely makes its way into their moral lectures. Curiously, their memory seems to begin and end with Deborah or similar acts in the North.

Sharia law in Northern Nigeria was never created to “kill Christians.” It’s a legal system applied to Muslims only, with full constitutional protection for Christians and others to live under civil law if they choose.
The Nigerian constitution guarantees freedom of religion, and every Sharia court in those states operates within that framework. No Christian has ever been lawfully executed under Sharia any mob action or violence is already condemned by Islamic scholars and by the state itself.

We expose how a group of imperial opportunists including Erik Prince, the openly white-supremacist founder of the disgraced Blackwater mercenary group, are using this false narrative to push for a private military occupation of some of Africa's richest mineral areas in Nigeria, under the ham-fisted guise of performative religious solidarity.

Far from having anything to do with religion, it is actually large-scale military psy-op with nakedly colonial objectives.

For decades, the script was simple:

Africa drills the oil,
the West refines it,
and Africa buys it back at triple the price, with gratitude. Imagine that!

Now Dangote came with a 650,000-barrel-per-day “plot twist.”

-The first migraine hit when U.S. fuel export numbers started twitching. West Africa, that loyal customer, suddenly said, “No thanks, we’ll refine it at home.” Imagine selling umbrellas in a desert, that’s how America feels right now in the diesel market.

-Then came the second headache, the petrodollar sneeze. If Nigeria starts trading refined products in naira, yuan, or even “AfriPay,” that’s a direct jab at Uncle Sam’s global ATM. The dollar doesn’t like competition; it catches inflation fever when others sneeze independence.

-Third pain: The geopolitical thermometer just went up. Africa’s biggest refinery means fewer oil tankers from Texas, and more from Lagos to Lome, under African control. That’s not energy trade; that’s energy freedom. And freedom, apparently, is bad for business.

-Fourth dose: The U.S. isn’t happy seeing Nigeria shaking hands with China and India on refinery deals. It’s like watching your ex build a mansion with your rival. The refinery runs on Chinese funding and Indian technology, two things America used to monopolize.

-And finally, the fifth and deadliest headache, the symbolism.
Dangote didn’t just build a refinery; he built a mirror, showing Africa what it could’ve been decades ago if it stopped outsourcing its future.

Now Washington can’t just send “economic advisers” and “development loans” with fancy conditions anymore. Africa might soon say, “Thanks, but we’ve got this.”

So Dangote’s refinery isn’t just refining oil, it’s refining pride, power, and perspective.
And for the first time, the biggest gas leak in the room isn’t from Nigeria, it’s from America’s nerves.

I have noted with increasing concern the heightened pronouncements on Nigeria by President Donald Trump. This follows his designation of Nigeria as a “country of particular concern.”

It is important to emphasise that our country is a sovereign nation whose people face different threats from outlaws across the country. The insecurity we face does not distinguish based on religious, ethnic, or political beliefs.

The United States should assist the Nigerian authorities with better cutting-edge technology to tackle these problems, rather than posing a threat that could further polarise our country.

The Nigerian government should also consider appointing special envoys from its distinguished diplomats to engage the American government. Additionally, it is necessary to appoint permanent ambassadors to represent Nigeria’s interests on the international stage.

To my fellow countrymen, this is an important moment where we should emphasise unity of belonging over division.

Not that this will accomplish anything, since you people hit the "off" switch inside your brains once your religion is mentioned, but for the benefit of the roughly 9 teachable people left in Nigerja, here is what is REALLY happening around you:

1. China is winning the economic war with the US, and the US is aware that it can no longer compete industrially with China, which is already a larger economy than the US in PPP terms. The only reason the US economy is still nominally larger is that the US dollar remains wildly overvalued due to its use as the global reserve currency.

2. The rise of BRICS means that the end of the US dollar as global reserve currency is coming. Once that happens, the US economy will implode, because it is built on exporting USD and importing the world's productivity. Without the overvalued USD as an imperial tool for controlling and extracting from the rest of the planet, the US will basically become Brazil with nuclear warheads.

3. The Trump administration knows this, which is why it has gone into full imperial mode, renaming the DoD to "Department of War," and preparing to deploy the US military across Latin America as part of its 'Monroe Doctrine.' The idea is to secure land, resources, and spheres of influence to compete with China and Russia, since it is no longer the unilateral superpower.

4. In this new multipolar world whose birth you are witnessing, there will be 3 or 4 great powers instead of just one, and all of them will compete and jostle for influence and access to resources. That is what you are witnessing playing out in Nepal, Bangladesh, the Sahel, the Middle East, Venezuela, and many other places. Yes, there are local factors, but everything exists in this wider context of a world being reshaped in front of our eyes.

5. During this reshaping of the world, Africa - the only continent with a majority of its states professing 'nonalignment' with any great power - is the biggest prize that is up for grabs. All of tomorrow's technology, which guarantees economic and military supremacy is built on resources found in DR Congo, Northern Nigeria, Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, Chad, Sudan and Somalia. (What unique security situation do all these places have in common?)

6.During this reshaping, "international institutions" are debased and made irrelevant. Bibi Netanyahu has an ICC arrest warrant that nobody will honour, and the US government sanctioned the ICC for issuing the warrant, even locking the ICC Chief Prosecutor out of his email and bank accounts. The UN has officially declared Gaza to be a genocide - and nothing happened. And nothing will happen because these "institutions" no longer have of the teeth they once pretended to have.

7. This means that the days of one state cooking up a reason to invade or annex another state - something expressly forbidden since 1945 - are now back. And since Africa has what everybody wants, any great power is now free to deploy a geopolitical meme ("Christian Genocide in Nigeria") and use it to justify invasion to take what it wants. In other words, colonialism is coming back - not IMF/World Bank, suit-wearing, conference-attending, Business-English-speaking, polite neo-colonialism, but open, obvious colonial theft and thuggery. This is not decades away - it is a few years away at the most.

8. Russia considers Europe to be its rightful sphere of influence and trade dominance. Hence it views European access to cheap African resources as a threat. Thus Russia is stepping in to provide military and infrastructure support for African states so that they can start to use their own resources for themselves and leave Europe dependent on Russia. Europe and the US see this as an existential threat, hence their proxy war in Ukraine and their new geopolitical meme ("Christian Genocide in Nigeria") to justify direct military occupation of West Africa.

9. No great power gives a single fuck about "Nigerian Christian genocide." All you are is a means to an end!
