#USMEF: Rapid start for 2024 pork exports

#USpork #exports raced to a great start in 2024, according to January data released by #USDA and #USMEF. Pork exports totaled 251,424 mt in January, up 6% from a year ago, while export value also increased 6% to $682.1 million.

#USBeef #exports totaled 115,107 mt in June, down 12% from a year ago and slightly below the May volume. Export value was $909.5 million, down 13% year-over-year but the highest since October and 4% above the value posted in May.

#Global outlooks for #beef market for 2023 suggest that production is set to increase, as key players such as #Brazil, #Argentina and #Australia grow their output. Global beef production is forecast to reach 59.6 million tons (+0.4% vs 2022), up 1% from April’s forecast.

#Argentina export sales of #frozen #beef were close to 632 thousand tons of product weight (+10.9% higher then 2021), for a value of approximately 3,454 million dollars (+24.0% higher). The average export price of frozen beef was US$3,926 per ton in December 2022.

#Uruguay shipped #beef #tongues to #Japan and wishes expansion of #offals to #China. This product generates between 15 and 25 million dollars a year. The first company to export tongues was BPU Meat and the shipment was made by plane, in a batch of 300 kg.
