@varadmehta Ds have a hard ceiling in TX and it’s around 47. If Talarico finishes above that it’s because the GOP didn’t execute the attack plan that exposes Mr. Vegan Campaign for who he is. A good candidate—for California.
@Darthballz619 A lot of misperceptions. Keep hearing about how the transplants are turning TX blue when Trump won those who have been in TX less than 5 years 63-35. Also, people not understanding TX Latinos aren’t like CA Latinos.
@Darthballz619 A 9 point national shift isn’t impossible. What I think people are missing in that even in a blue wave year in Texas the hard ceiling for a D is probably 47. Beto broke that but that was Bruce’s he could play as a moderate. The campaign exposing “Vegan Campign” Talarico is coming
@chriswithans@IAPolls2022 Ds have a hard ceiling at 47 unless the Rs really mess up (in Paxton’s case that would mean not exposing Talarico’s series of risibly woke comments). They’ve already consolidated what they have. Very limited room to grow.
@earlyvotedata It’s not a R+7 electorate (past electorates have been R +10-12) and they probably got a really leftward skewed independent sample, too. The trick in Texas polling is nailing that group. Abbott wins by mod single digits. Question is that is enough to drag Paxton across.
