I recently had a hard time choosing between multiple job offers, so I spoke to a few people that I respect (who have way more experience than me). I'm going to share a few things I learned and some things I already knew about choosing an offer. It might help someone here:

✅ It's always good to be in a profit centre rather than a cost centre. You want to do what makes the company money rather than what it is forced to spend Money on. Tech jobs have been dancing since last year. Apart from the job security aspect, there's also the fact that your work can tie into the direct success of the business, and showing those numbers and impact is great for your career growth.

✅ It's also always good to choose a role with a lot of potential opportunities to make an impact. It helps your growth within the company because you're able to use your experience to solve multiple critical problems.

✅ Culture. I say this every day. If you can spot red flags from your potential manager or teammates during the interviews, run. There'd be more opportunities that won't make you regret your decision. Just be patient. If you know people who work there, it is even better because you can ask them directly. You can't really learn everything about culture from a company's website because company culture is what the entire business does, but team culture is different. I've seen people who complain daily about their jobs, but the culture part of that company's website looks like everyone there is having a great time. It's about how the team collaborates and supports each other. And remember, it's not about just joining the company; what team are you joining?

✅ Money (this is a no-brainer) because you shouldn't work for free or work for less than you are worth.

✅ Alignment: You want to work on something you're excited about and feel passionate about. Ensure that the role aligns with your interests, skills, and career aspirations. Being genuinely excited about the work you do makes a significant difference in your motivation, job satisfaction, and overall success in the role.

✅ Leadership and Mentorship: Consider the quality of leadership and the availability of mentorship opportunities within the organization. Working under supportive and inspirational leaders can significantly impact your career growth and development.

✅ Other things that matter to you. For example, if you have a family and you want to prioritize a role that offers flexible remote/hybrid work, then do that.
