Why is fishing on our own coastline still so difficult for Black South Africans?
Why is it so hard to access a fishing boat, secure a licence, or build a small fishing business without already having money, connections, or resources?
We have thousands of kilometres of coastline — but who actually gets to benefit from it?
Is this really about conservation and regulations, or are there deeper economic and historical barriers that we’re not willing to talk about?
Who owns access to the ocean?
