Memes aside this ending is still just awful. The more I think about it, the less I like it, and not even from uh "IT'S SO DEEP AND COMPLEX" standpoint and more of uh "This is about as deep as a puddle but was talked up like it would be the second coming of christ."

I think in the entire 58 minute finale, there are two good scenes that feel a little bit earned - and both of them involve caine, who's arc was still incredibly rushed and who LITERALLY THREW AN AI OUT INTO THE VOID NOT THINKING MAYBE THAT COULD HAVE UNFORSEEN CONSEQUENCES IN THE FUTURE???

But I'm not paying a subscription for game chat when I use Discord. I'm paying a subscription because that's what let's me upload Mario Maker courses and play New Horizons on SNES as a bonus. It's not worth another $500 just so my teammates on Overwatch can still deal with me not having full surround sound during play. This may be a shock, not everyone has a Switch 2 for that shit!

I'm not playing dumb to be critical I pointed out a direct pattern Nintendo has pulled twice now where they get comfortable after re-establish themselves in the living room. Just because you find my responses inadequate doesn't excuse dogmatically rewarding Nintendo when they are bringing their C game.

Speaking of game, while the Switch 1 was a Wii U game resurrection device that doesn't excuse a lion share of Switch 2 games being enhanced editions of games most players already bought. 3D World +Bowser's Fury brings Mario 3D World to a better system with less clunky hardware and throws in a bonus game that's a damn good concept for a 10-hour affair. BOTW and TOTK getting literal filler for a system +$100 from the Switch OLED is stupid.

So all the functions most people who commonly play already have alternatives for that doesn't have a dedicated button requiring a subscription. Those are quality of life improvements for people without PCs or phones apparently. What actual game is going to sell me that subscription and brick bound to be bricked in a decade?
