A 20-year-old Italian woman refused African man's sexual advances by the river in Pescia, and he dragged her into the water and held her under again and again to break her.

Police say the 38-year-old Dominican national then beat her legs with a belt, hit her with stones and put out cigarettes on her face on the riverbank. She was saved only because a passer-by heard her screaming and called the emergency number. He ran away, and police tracked him down and put him in Pistoia prison, accused of torture and attempted sexual violence.

Police say this man already has numerous prior offences, including ones of the same kind, and he was still walking free.

How many warnings does Italy need before it throws a man like this out of the country? This woman survived because a stranger picked up the phone. Time to deport the all!
