Working on a C++ CLI survival game called ZshLand.
So far: random world gen, terrains, hunger & thirst… now on inventory & resources, basically all that survival stuff.
Sharing dev bits as I go.
Project is on Github: https://t.co/hzAYjB9MxN

I coded a minimap prototype successfully. When needed, it scans tiles around the player and adds one tile to the minimap for every 10×10 tiles in the world.
Lately I’ve been playing many MMOs and, feeling inspired, decided to add an action log as well.

I've made some tweaks to the in-game UI. I've added a couple more stats that I'll need for future features (such as swimming) and new sections (actions log, active effects...)
The next goal is implementing a sort of minimap integrated in the UI.

I finally resumed work on ZshLand!
I completed the settings system using an .ini file and refactored the code to match it.
The codebase is now more organized and modular, mainly by splitting foraging and inventory related scripts into multiple files.
I found a way to remove all hardcoded values. I'm now using a .ini file from which I load most variables.
This way the player has full control over the game and it's easier to edit for less-experienced users.
Implemented different types of foraging, ranging from various food types to resources and medical herbs.
When one or more types of foraging are active, you'll find those resources while exploring the world.

Added water depth, palms and inventory options: remove, consume (if usable), or equip (if usable). Foraging + resource collection coming next.
All this will come in 2.0.0, but its still a long road untils it gets released.

I also added "Mods" and "Keybindings" sections to the main menu. They aren’t fully functional yet, but in-game pressing "h" now shows all default keybindings.
Maybe mod support and custom keybindings in a QOL update after next version? 👀

I finally got the Lua tables working. Now item values aren't hardcoded anymore and are easy to tweak for all users.
All the new requirements are included locally, so there's no need to install anything.
All this will come in the next major update!

Inventory UI done. Values are hardcoded for now, but I'll switch to modular via Lua tables. They are easy to read, and may be good for adding new items or letting users add their own.
I've already uploaded some Lua files sketches to Github (data/ dir): https://t.co/hzAYjB9MxN
