I was delighted to receive the first-ever Ambassador of Somaliland to Israel, Mohamed Hagi, who presented his diplomatic credentials this morning.

Ambassador Hagi was kind enough to praise our orchestra, who played the national anthem of Somaliland for the first time ever in Israel.

This important new partnership
between our nations will bring a shared future of cooperation in a range of fields to the benefit of both our peoples and the entire region.

I congratulated him on presenting his credentials to the President of the State of Israel and on Somaliland’s Independence Day, which falls today.

The official theme for this year's 35th anniversary celebration of Somaliland's independence has been chosen as "Aqoonsi iyo Adkaysi" (Recognition and Resilience).

This theme was sourced directly from the citizens of the Republic of #Somaliland after the government, via a post published by the Ministry of Information, provided the public with the opportunity to crowdsource ideas for this year's slogan.

Thousands of Somaliland citizens from across the globe participated in proposing themes for this year's May 18th celebrations. Ultimately, the national organizing committee selected "Recognition and Resilience" as the official and definitive theme for the event.

Both the city and the people are developing at a rapid pace. In four years Hargaisa city council has built the most road and bridge infrastructure in the cities history. As for the people the youth who make up a large demographic have embraced coffee and gym culture. With hundreds of gyms and coffee shops opened across the city.
