Out of the many fruits of the creative process, one of most beneficial to you as a whole is just sitting and thinking in a very focused manner about one thing for an extended amount of time. This simple act is almost revolutionary in today's world of constant sensory bombardment. It tunes the mind and body to the natural flow of time and unlocks often buried cognitive potential.
This is a picture that I drew on the back of a paper plate many years ago. I scanned it and tried my best to isolate the actual drawing. Anyway, it's been weird holding on to that aper plate all of these years, and I'm happy that some form of digital copy now exists. Enjoy.
Seeing this as I am just coming off of a 76 hour fast, sipping my broth. I agree fully. The changes that happen to your position with yourself and with the world can be profound.
Most people fast to improve their body.
Steiner saw something far deeper.
He said fasting is “extremely meaningful” not only for weight loss or performance — but because of what it does to the inner structure of the human being.
Hunger in this view, isn't just physical.
It is an expression of the astral body; the layer tied to desire, impulse, and restlessness.
So when you fast, you're not just skipping food.
You are quieting the part of you that constantly reacts, craves, and pulls you outward.
And when that layer softens, another begins to work.
The physical and etheric body restore rhythm.
Steiner also links fasting to a larger idea: harmony.
Modern life overstimulates us - constant input, constant consumption, constant satisfaction of impulses.
Fasting interrupts that.
It creates a gap.
The real issue isn't food.
It is compulsion.
Compulsion clouds perception.
It makes thinking reactive.
It binds you to automatic patterns.
Fasting, in its deeper sense, is a step back from that.
Not to punish the body; but to free yourself from what drives you.
And from that freedom, something shifts:
Thinking quiets.
Perception sharpens.
Presence returns.
Steiner’s point is simple and radical:
Fasting is powerful because it changes your relationship to desire.
And that determines how clearly you can perceive reality.
@McClureShawn@future_grandpa And that's where you go wrong. Order and intelligibility are God, essentially. At least how God's creation manifests. All things then proceed from that. Basically the contingency argument.
An 'N' logo done with more alcohol markers. Still learning how to use these things, and definitely seeing their limitations, but also realizing what they're best at. I need to unlock their potential.
