We’re building Africa's largest bookstore & publishing platform focused on amplifying African voices.
An ecosystem connecting readers, writers, and culture.
Today, we at Nuria Store submit a formal proposal to His Excellency Dr. William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya, calling for national support to Kenyan authors and the stocking of Kenyan-authored books in every public and community library in the country.
Kenyan readers, including our schoolchildren and university students, should find stories written by Kenyans as a normal part of visiting their local library not a rare discovery. We look forward to working with KNLS, the Ministry responsible for Sports, Culture and Heritage, and the Council of Governors to make this a reality.

Men Enslaved Women and Called it Civilization: The Longest Crime in Human History: A History of Male Domination By Hardev Panesar
Hardev Panesar argues that women's oppression was designed, defended and handed down: enforced by force, then by law, religion and culture, all to control women's bodies, labor, voices and futures.
It confronts the silence, the tradition and the comfort that kept that order standing. It does not ask readers to reflect. It asks them to answer.

Man About Town by Silas Nyanchwani
Unemployed, unbothered and unfiltered, @nyanchwani has spent years loitering in Nairobi with intent. He's watched the clubs, the matatus and your girlfriend's outfit, and he's filed his judgment. Expect lawyers who only drink chilled wine, deworming tablets sold on a bus, and a man suing the young women who took advantage of his "senility."

Today Nuria Bookstore joined Mwalimu Rachel's book brunch at Ole Sereni Hotel
The read of the month was Stuff I'd Tell My Sister: On Sisterhood, Surgery and Breast Cancer by Dr. @m_mutebi.
Dr. Mutebi, the first female breast surgeon in Kenya, breaks the silence surrounding breast cancer, women's bodies, and the systems that too often fail them.
It is part memoir, part medical wisdom, and entirely the kind of honest conversation we need to be having with our sisters, mothers, daughters and friends.
Thank you, @MwalimuRachel, for bringing readers together over a book that matters.

This is a powerful book. @KakwenzaRukira brings his sharp legal mind and fearless storytelling to a gripping erotic legal thriller that asks hard questions about justice, evidence, and power. The title Wanyita meaning “you are killing me” — perfectly captures how desire and danger can blur into each other, and how one person’s pleasure can become another’s destruction when systems fail.
From the intensity of the relationship between George and Veronica to the high-stakes courtroom battle that follows, the novel forces readers to confront uncomfortable truths about truth, money, and morality. It’s bold, well-crafted, and impossible to ignore.
Highly recommended for anyone who values African literature that challenges and entertains at the same time.
Art and stories can inspire people to see nature differently, and to act on that connection. 💚
Here I am, in Kenya, in a forest, holding my first children’s picture book, The Forest Is a Part of Me, and wearing artwork from the mural of me painted in Estonia by Viktoria Berezina. Two different forms of art, both connected to my love for nature and the work I do to protect it.
There is power in seeing someone care for a forest, grow a tree or stand up for nature, whether on a wall or in the pages of a book. A child might see themselves in that story and think, “I can do that too.” That is how art can become part of conservation: by inspiring actions that continue beyond the picture or the page.
Special thanks to Michelle pereira for the beautiful illustrations on my Children’s Picture Book, The Forest is a Part of Me, and Little Tiger publishers for bringing this book to life. Special thanks to Viktoria Berezina too for sharing this message through your art and the Tree of Life Mural still standing tall in Narva, Estonia. ❤️
