4. Prioritizing our relationship and quality time with each other AND our friends. You want to go play Magic the Gathering with the boys Friday night? Sounds good! I’m grabbing coffee with the girls Saturday morning and Sunday, I’m all yours. You make it work.
3. Not putting expectations on each other and communicating. As humans, our emotions and physical wellbeing ebb and flow. Some days I’m putting in 90% and Connor puts in 10%. And other days it’s vice versa. Give your person grace and don’t keep score.
2. Therapy to heal past traumas. Connor takes the cake on this one because he’s really been putting in the work. Nothing is more attractive than someone who loves themselves and loves you enough to fix what’s broken in them for you.
1. Daily mental check ins. If I mention I didn’t sleep well last night, the response is “everything okay?”, not “that sucks.” Opens the door for a conversation if either of us are anxious or need one another.
