Nurses at my hosp received NOTHING for nurses week
This makes giving my notice in a week SO MUCH EASIER.
There is a special place in hell for admins prioritizing getting their bonus over giving back to nursing staff right now.
I am sitting in the chair- My dentist asks “are you stressed?”
I lost it. Full water works.😢
Literally the dentist & her assistant are wiping my tears off my face. She says “Oh, honey. You aren’t okay.”
I’ve held it together 6 weeks, & I loose my shit at the dentist?🥴
Yes. I’m stressed.
I have been taking care of COVID pts for 6 weeks. There still isn’t a treatment that helps ICU pts. Not donor plasma, abx, Vit C, plaquenil, etc. Nothing.
I feel helpless. Everywhere I turn people call us heroes.
No, I’m not. It doesn’t make me feel good.
@NurseyShift If your co-worker has that little regard for YOU, the patient, & family member- they are BURNT OUT. They need to check themselves.
Nurses compartmentalize to do our job, but we are still caring for human beings & should be both empathetic & compassionate, if not- why be a nurse?
@MrgnW8 When researching I feel that Web sites that specialize in “pay rates” usually have higher rates than real life.
The discouraging thing is the hospitals I interviewed with don’t have retention/clinical ladder programs.
They rely on the mountains to keep nurses satisfied? 🤷🏻♀️
Okay... I dislike negotiating pay. I always find out later I got screwed.
I was contacted by a head hunter due to my cardiac ICU experience. They are telling me that $35/hr is a fair rate for 8 years ICU experience in the Denver area.
I fell like that is low. 🤔
@SunnySevoCRNA We work in teams of 2 RN’s. One RN does admission, the other VS, IV, & pre op meds. We rotate, every other pt- you stick. We each do 2 sticks before another RN tries.
So if it’s my turn to stick, I stick 2 times before asking another RN to try. RARELY do I stick 2 times.
@MrgnW8@LSW2216 Tiger king and now loading up senior citizens on a flatbed trailer during a thunderstorm and driving through town!?
I mean... how will Oklahoma ever prove that there actually are normal people with common sense that live here too!?!?
It’s an uphill battle. 🙄
@Q2turnQueen Um... no. “Not given. Nurse decision. See note.”
OR
“Contraindicated. See Note.”
I mean... I’m sure she had you put a note in about the pts current status/deterioration, etc. RIGHT?
@MelissaAReed That’s cool.
If you CHOOSE not to wear a mask, and you CHOOSE to not social distance.
Then Please CHOOSE not come to the hospital.
Because why would you care what we can do to help you if you already ignored everything we asked you to do?
@RNSuperHero Out of the 52 COVID+ pts we have had on our ICU unit, only 2 have survived, they were 30 & 24 y/o.
We still have 12 COVID + pts on the unit. 38 deaths total.
If you get sick enough for ICU care... your odds are not good.
I’m no doctor, but if the president is mixing azithromycin, hydroxychloroquine, and a large dosage of adderall, in addition to god knows what else, it can have disastrous consequences.🤷🏻♀️
Resident: *being rude and condescending to me* I want to report you to the charge nurse.
Me: No problem, come with me she's at the nurse's station.
Me: *turns around* Hey, I'm the charge nurse. What's the problem?
@lubdubscrubs Um. No.
I make it VERY CLEAR to our TB pts:
“Staff will adresss your needs when we come in the room for assessment and meds- q2hr minimum. Keep a list of what you need so you don’t forget.”
VS are stable... they can wait. Emergency & needs only at this point. Preserve PPE!
