The field for the 2026 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award has been narrowed to five outstanding women.

This writer believes the most outstanding of that group to be Mia Nicastro, a graduate of St. Charles West and who is now a senior at Western Illinois University.

The winner will be announced on April 1. However, Mia is focused on leading her Leathernecks into March Madness as they await their opponent to be named on Selection Sunday.
