@TeamYSN_ I agree that hydration is overlooked, however, over-hydrating can also pose issues. Drinking to thirst is recommended + it’s unnecessary to drink if you’re not thirsty. Symptoms of dehydration + hyper-hydration can manifest similarly. This is important to educate to athletes on.
@TrainCondition I absolutely agree with this mindset. It is so important to invest in yourself. Workout and eat mindfully because you LOVE your body and all that it does for you, not because you hate it and wish to change it. A better body begins with a better mind.
@SportsDietAust Protein intake is SO important for athletes consistently training and competing as it plays a major role in strengthening and repairing muscle tissue. This infographic outlines several ways to sneak more protein into your diet and highlights some protein-rich food sources.
@OrganicLiveFood Although that may seem easy to do, it’s not that simple. Not every individual has the financial capability to fill their fridge with fresh vegetables, or the time and skills needed to prepare them. It’s important to take this into consideration when offering nutritional advice.
@DrEenfeldt Many individuals opt for these overly processed foods for ease and convenience, and most likely don’t even realize the additives they contain. Education on simple meal planning is important and would be helpful in allowing people to feel confident and in control of their diets.
@Hedgehog2661 I couldn’t help but notice you didn’t include fat as an option here. Fat helps give your body energy, protects your organs, supports cell growth, and helps your body absorb vital nutrients to name just a few benefits. Healthy sources of fat include avocado, fatty fish, and nuts.
@MayoClinic Feeling stressed about food this holiday season? You’re not alone. Check out these helpful tips to hold yourself accountable. Don’t deprive yourself of holiday treats, but remain mindful of what you’re putting in your body - aim for quality over quantity and practice moderation.
@WebMD Hummus is a vastly underrated addition to the diet. It is packed with plant-based protein, rich in ingredients proven to fight inflammation, high in fibre that promotes digestive health, and yummy above all! It’s a nutritious swap for your usual chip dip this holiday season!
@nm_mullins I am loving your take on this! This kind of advice pertaining to nutrition can foster disordered thoughts surrounding eating. ‘More’ or ‘Less’ can easily lead to thinking certain foods are ‘Good’ and ‘Bad’ or even safe, and this only continues to strengthen harmful diet culture.
@BravenChou The Athlete’s Plate is a great tool. It can be difficult to visualize what your body needs and what that looks like on a plate. This takes some of the stress away about fuelling your body for performance + encourages athletes to take care of themselves while feeling in control.
@ICMRNIN @NINDirector @MoHFW_INDIA@MinistryWCD This is a great suggestion! Eggs are fast and simple, with so many delicious ways to be prepared. Breakfast has a variety of benefits, especially for growing bodies and I think it is important to educate children on the importance of starting their day off with a balanced meal.
@DrSubhasree Hi there! These are amazing tips - the importance of hydration needs to be talked about more, especially in regards to WHAT you’re drinking and when. Sports drinks do a great job at replenishing electrolytes after intense exercise, but contain too much sugar. Nothing beats water!
