Looking back at my 2-minute highlight in 2024, being interviewed alongside Ambassador Burns by Lesley Stahl of 60 Minutes, I am still immensely grateful and happy that I took the step forward to be included in this 60 Minutes’ China story. It’s turbulent times and not easy to see what’s coming. The economy or the confidence of it didn’t increase in the course of 2024 and we will have President Trump back in the White House and a new ambassador to China to facilitate a perhaps different approach to the U.S.-China relationship. Nevertheless, my statement about the long term outlook of China remains the same. We shall look at the 1st principles as Musk often says, in this case, the fundamentals of an economy of 1.4 billion hardworking people. Yes, population has peaked in China, but it still has a long way to go in terms of improving living standard for all and reinventing itself as a technology leader. As 2024 draws to the end, I look forward to a new year with resilient confidence and will embrace whatever comes along the way. May peace, kindness, and common sense prevail.
“We are here for the long term, and we believe in the consumption power of the rising middle class. It's 1.4 billion people here.”

Introducing Murphy the Horse, 马飞飞, one of the AI characters created by MotionCode Technology (Shanghai) Ltd. The dance combination in this animation was originally created by Professor Ma Yue from Minzu University of China, with music composed by Chen Ruoping. It was initially titled "Waving Hands Combination" and later also known as "Elegance."
This video is produced by MotionCode using AI technology. In handling the movements, the company’s founder, a close friend of mine, studied and referenced multiple performances by various dance artists across different periods, striving to capture the essence and spirit of the original work.
The design and costume styling of Murphy the Horse are still in the exploration phase. Your feedback and suggestions are welcome and most appreciated. Hopefully through this video you will gain a glimpse of and appreciate traditional Chinese folk dance, music, and costume arts.
The motion algorithm in this video is based on the study of professional dance techniques, completed through sampling and transfer processes within a ComfyUI workflow. The technology is continuously being optimized.
Wishing you a splendid Year of the Fire Horse. 马到成功,马年吉祥!

@Christo39775311@RnaudBertrand I don’t know about 9. I would say a few billion. People go to their parents, then parents-in-law, then other family members, then friends, and ×2 for return trips… It’s the time when everyone tries to see everyone else at once.
Sharing an anecdote: Some years ago, my company in Suzhou still received occasional notices from the local government to stop production due to power constraints. It hasn’t happened in the past two years, I think, due to both increased supply and companies’ vigorous efforts to reduce power consumption through various efficiency programs.
On flight to Shanghai from Bangkok on Thai Airways, Dec 19, 2024, I took a short video of this stunning view from above Pudong, Shanghai as the plane descended. The Christmas music in the background was played by the crew. Nature is amazing. Humans are pretty awesome too to create this!
