The Foundation is a private, non-profit organization aimed at addressing challenges, create new opportunities, and make a difference in people’s lives.
Having concluded the festive season, students now embark on a new chapter as they resume for their studies in 2026. Dear students, you are now transitioning from rest, celebration and reflection to discipline, intensity, learning and purpose.
The Essy Okenyuri Nyaituga Foundation through Mchakato wa Usomi program might make a surprise visit in your various institutions this year, We look forward to interacting with you and together advancing the reading culture in the broader objective of enhancing critical thinking.
Through the Essy Okenyuri Nyaituga Foundation, we partnered with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development in flagging off the distribution of over 20,000 hass avocado seedlings across Bomachoge Borabu and Bomachoge Chache Constituencies.
This is a coordinated effort to reimagine increased food production by increasing access to avocado seedlings by smallholder farmers who with more production will enable the strengthening of avocado value chain and enhanced food security.
Kenya has firmly established its position as an avocado powerhouse, producing approximately 115,000 metric tons of avocado annually with 70 % of the avocado produce driven by small scale farmers. The access of seedlings by small scale farmers will ensure plant diversity in Kisii, enable farmers tap into the lucrative export market boosting their income and contributing to the country's economic growth.
Additionally, the global appetite for avocado is immense and that necessitates the empowering of farmers to produce more avocados. We encourage farmers to embrace avocado farming and especially hass avocado since it is resistant to the vagaries of weather, it fetches good prices in the international market and it supports the Kenyan economy which is majorly driven by the global demand. With more avocados, it will definitely mean more employment opportunities ,more export earnings and a booming economy.
Present were the Deputy County Commissioners of Kenyenya and Gucha, Assistant County Commissioners of Magenche, Magena, Kenyenya and Ibencho Divisions. Also present were chiefs and assistant chiefs drawn from different administrative units in Bomachoge Chache and Bomachoge Borabu Constituencies.
I joined the Magenge SDA Secondary fraternity at Bombaba Borabu Ward in Bomachoge Borabu in honouring last year's students for their exemplary performance in last year's examination.Received by a sea of smiles and ululations, I felt honoured to have spent a day with the students, parents and teachers of the school.
This celebration was not limited to individual success but also did recognize the significance of perseverance, hardwork and teamwork. We hope this recognition leaves the students energized and motivated as they navigate the outer world.
In a special way,I thank parents and teachers for their sacrifice in ensuring that learners get a conducive environment where they can grow intellectually, spiritually and morally.
In supporting students and powering the effort to positively impact them, I did donate books through Mchakato wa Usomi, a program under the Essy Okenyuri Nyaituga Foundation. The principal objective is to have a generation that is empowered and bears the resilience to advance themselves to greatness.
The Purpose of Mchakato Wa Usomi Project under EssyOkenyuriNyaituga Foundation is to promote and inculcate a reading culture in students.A book might seem like a small thing in the fight against inequality – but we see every day how a book can spark a transformation.
This year’s strategic plan focuses on Identification of needy rural schools(primary and secondary schools) and creating the opportunity to read for students who face the greatest barriers to learning – sharing the power of the book and helping to create a more equal society.
The Mchakato wa Usomi Program under the @NyaitugaFound is back and running for this year.
We today knocked doors at Nyamuya Secondary School and donated books, this is in the spirit of making students develop a predilection for knowledge through reading their books.
Through Mchakato, the Foundation is fully committed towards having students in school reading books, gaining knowledge for critical thinking and consequently cushioning them from child labour, gender based violence, early marriages, teenage pregnancies and crime that might deflect them from their dreams. We are encouraging a culture of reading amongst students,a culture that has been embraced by the Foundation.
The Mchakato wa Usomi Program is fuelled by the belief that education is key to unlocking doors, we are igniting a flame of hope in children and working towards suppressing factors that might divest these children of their right to education and a bright future.
We continue to partner with individuals and organizations like Moran publishers that share in our vision of empowering the children of Kenya so that they can have a better future.
The Essy Okenyuri Nyaituga Foundation team visited the home of Faith Kathambi, a lady from a humble background in Mokubo Village, Bomachoge Borabu Constituency,Kisii County who was captured on camera being assaulted for allegedly stealing a packet of wheat flour.
At the same time, we encourage members of the public not to take the law in their hands against those who wrong them in one way or the other and instead act within the legal framework.
