Quantum is poised to become a multi-trillion dollar industry in the next few years. We think New Yorkers should share in that profit.
That's why we negotiated that New Yorkers get board seats and a 15% stake of intellectual property that comes out of NYU's Quantum Fabrication facility.
Because all New Yorkers should benefit from the economic success of this city.
Breaking News: Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s administration is making a $30 million investment to build a quantum research lab at New York University. In exchange, the city will receive 15% of any proceeds from intellectual property developed in that lab. https://t.co/lT5M8g1gTQ
This year alone, New Yorkers have reported more than 188,000 incidents of domestic violence. That's 780 incidents every day. Countless others go unreported.
Today, we wear purple to honor the lives stolen by domestic violence, stand with survivors and reaffirm a simple promise to every New Yorker: You deserve to feel safe in your home and in your relationship.
To anyone experiencing domestic violence: You do not have to face this alone.

Hispanic New Yorkers keep this city running. Whether you got here a few weeks ago or your family has been here for generations, this is a city that is proud you chose it.
We will build a New York that families can afford to stay in — and where immigrants are safe and celebrated. Bienvenidos a casa. Este es su hogar.
Happy Hispanic Heritage Month, New York.
Bienvenidos a casa. Este es su hogar.
¡Feliz Mes de la Herencia Hispana, Nueva York!
When the public invests in new tech, the public should benefit.
That’s why our investment in a Quantum Fabrication Lab at NYU includes a first-of-its-kind agreement to give the city seats on the board and a share of the revenue from the lab — all while making our city the quantum capital of the world.
We’re creating a new national model for economic development that gives working people a say and a stake.
Mamdani: At City Hall, we believe that when the public invests in new technology, the public should benefit from its success. That is why we have developed a first-of-its-kind governing agreement for the QFAB with our partners at NYU, one that will give New Yorkers both a stake in the future revenue of the technologies made here and a say in what those technologies are.
First, when new technologies are developed in the QFAB with tools that the city helped to fund, the city will receive 15% of NYU Central Administration’s revenue.
And second, the city will have three seats on the QFAB Executive Advisory Board to ensure that the voices of working New Yorkers shape quantum technologies for decades to come.
This sets a new national standard, or as we say in the industry, a standard model, for economic development in emerging industries. One in which the betterment of New Yorkers’ lives is not a footnote, and where economic justice and innovation go hand in hand.
Congratulations to the NAACP New York State Conference on 90 years of organizing, mobilizing and fighting for a more just world.
From advancing racial justice to securing voting rights, the NAACP has helped turn once-unthinkable demands into rights that generations of New Yorkers now enjoy.
Last week, I joined the Generations of Justice Gala to honor that legacy and recommit to building a city where dignity and equality belong to all.
New York City! You have 10 days left to register to vote! Go to https://t.co/CP2Njge1fW to register, find your polling site or see a sample ballot.
And don’t forget: turn your ballot over to vote on faster government!
This week, our Hindu neighbors celebrate the Goddess Durga during the festival of Navaratri.
Our neighbors will dance Garba, venerate the Goddess Durga with Sindur Khela, receive Tika from elders, set up Golu in their homes, and so much more.
Whether your family calls it Durga Puja, Dashain, Dussehra, or Navratri, may this festival mark a season of reflection and renewal.
The horse carriage industry is coming to an end in New York City.
Our administration will make sure workers and owners are protected and the horses are safe.
We’re expanding the city’s discretionary grant pilot program to speed up funding for the nonprofits that serve New Yorkers every day.
Now, 800 nonprofit partners are on track to receive funding within 30 days — cutting months of red tape so they can spend less time on paperwork and more time serving our communities.
This morning, the federal government turned the full force of the Department of Homeland Security against a sitting member of Congress for the offense of disagreeing with the White House.
The path to citizenship should not be weaponized against anyone, including Rep. Ilhan Omar, a naturalized American who swore an oath to this country — the same one that I took.
The promise of citizenship should not be contingent on someone agreeing with the federal government.
I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation.
I will not be silenced.
Yesterday I joined faith leaders, congregants, and community organizers from @MetroIAF, whose decades of grassroots organizing have helped make the priorities of working New Yorkers a political reality.
We discussed the progress our administration has made on issues like public safety and homelessness — and how we can deepen our partnership to create lasting change.
From Inwood Hill Park to the shores of the Rockaways, Indigenous history is all around us. Long before New York City bore its name, this land was home to the Lenape people.
This Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor that history.
Kuwiinguneewul! Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day to the Indigenous New Yorkers who continue to shape our city, sustain ancestral traditions, and carry forward generations of resilience.
