I just found another piece of evidence.

There’s a tweet from November 2012 containing a much higher-quality version of the same profile picture Melanie was using at the time.

This completely undermines the claim that the only way to obtain a higher-quality version of the image would be by cropping the December 7 screenshot.

In other words, that argument is simply false.

This doesn’t rule out the possibility that the image was upscaled or enhanced either. In fact, it makes that explanation even more plausible, since the alleged racist screenshot is far too low-quality to reveal the profile picture’s finer details anyway, and has small fails on the drawing.
