The URA Tax Education team engaged A-Level students studying Economics and Entrepreneurship at St. Patrick High School, Hoima, under the #TaxAlertGeneration programme.

Tax Education expert Gerald Bwambale encouraged students to understand taxation early, noting that tax compliance is essential to national development.

“URA’s role goes beyond collecting revenue. We also administer and enforce tax laws and advise Government on tax policy.”

The school’s Head Teacher, Mr Alexander Onjima, said the initiative is helping shape informed and patriotic citizens.

“When young people understand their role in taxation, we nurture responsible citizens who care about the development of their country”, Onjima said.

The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) is engaging players in the transport sector in Arua City to strengthen their understanding of tax obligations and promote compliance within the sector.

The engagement brings together boda boda riders, taxi drivers, lorry drivers and other key stakeholders in the transport industry.

Key discussions are focusing on Advance Income Tax, motor vehicle and boda boda registration, smuggling, EFRIS and other applicable tax obligations in the transport sector.

The engagement is also clarifying who is required to use EFRIS and how it applies to businesses in the transport sector while addressing common tax compliance challenges affecting transport operators.
