It’s that wonderful time of the year again where @cityofsaintjohn gives zero fucks about pedestrians who might have to cross the street or walk down the sidewalk. Luckily I’m able bodied enough to climb snowbanks almost 4 feet high. City planners need to come for a walk.
Listening to @premierbhiggs present to Saint John City Council. He’s talking about his time as a hockey goalie for a church league. I despise this man. He’s so out of touch. People are dying in the streets and emergency rooms, but hey, he won a hockey game!
There’s a @Gov_NB care home at 59 Pitt St, SJ, Bay Care Residential, that moved all residents out this evening. I was speaking to one person that’s lived there over 20 years. I’m so angry that people get treated like this! How do we find out why this happened? @CBCNB@Global_NB
@uptownini Im curious how the two are comparable. The one in Vancouver is temporary & portable. Saint John’s is permanent. I’m not saying it should be locked, none of my local ones growing up were. Theyre just different things. They should have chain link fence though, to keep the balls in
There’s a @saintjohnpolice cruiser that picks up one of my neighbours, drops them off at work about 5 blocks away, then takes them home at the end of the day. Imagine a police force with so little to do that they can act as a taxi service. Can we all get rides?
@thekatelindean Is it back now? We weren’t out when the sparks started but we’re out as they fixed it. We’re back on now, just as we got settled in to read books by candle light!
@dondarlingSJ@PierrePoilievre This screams of being written by ChatGPT! The term “common sense” is so ridiculously overused and generally misunderstood. Common sense is common, that’s all, it’s not necessarily good sense. I prefer logic over common sense.
@uptownini We used to joke that it would be like one of those exclusive parks around New York that you can only get into if you’re a member and have a key. I guess it’s no joke. It’s so disappointing to think of how many people could have been housed in the building that was there.
I’m trying to understand @ThinkTransitSJ driver’s views on crosswalks. Are they good for target practice? Are they just suggestions? Twice today busses ignored me while in the crosswalks and drove right through. It’s not even a snow problem, they just don’t seem to give a fuck.
It’s the most wonderful time of the “sorry if you use a wheelchair, walker, or have trouble stepping over mounds of snow and slushy pooled water but you’re fucked for now” time of year.
I’m heading out with my shovel to clear some of obstacles for people in the neighbourhood.
21 St Joe’s hit a car on King E just by Pitt. Another bus was stuck at the bottom of King E at Crown. Cars also stuck on Carmarthen coming up the hill from Union, and on Sydney. It’s gonna be a long day!
It’s a little icy out there in Saint John! There are so many cars, including taxis, without snow tires. I saw 6 stuck vehicles in a 4 block walk to work.
Garbage was out Tuesday night, tagged, at the curb, on time. It wasn’t picked up so I logged a request on Wednesday morning to have it picked up, but nothing. I asked again first thing Thursday morning, and now, Thursday evening it’s still there. Come of
