You are 100% ignorantly wrong, this is not a Betamax vs VCR technology, its power and compute. The demand is real, the players may change, and like all new tech there are winners and losers, yes some neoclouds will fail, lack of power, funds, gpu hoarding, but guess what, the majors will consolidate and buy out the weak ones. The compute demand is astronomical. You will be replaced by a gpu. Then 1 Billion robots in 10 years. They will need compute. We are at day zero for demand.
If you can read between the lines, they are so well trained by campaign managers on what will resonate, well at least historically and they play in the margins, me 2 will get more votes vs me don’t. Labor just attacks the player and this has worked well for a long time, but when things are really broken it goes back to policy and whether you like it or not, ONE nation is leading with policy and it is hitting the mark. No alliance just observation and stats.
@newscomauHQ It exposes cheap headlines…we are at 2% of consumer usage, and big corporations are slow to move. We have not even hit the start line yet.
Your headlines 12 months from now…”westpac fires 10,000 staff”……”home loans approved in 35 seconds”
@VelonCC Another notable effort David McKenzie was in a breakaway for 164 kilometers (about 120 to 164 km depending on the source citing the solo portion vs. the day-long breakaway) during his Stage 7 win at the 2000 Giro d'Italia.
I feel your frustration, we have been sold the biggest scam ever on net zero. There is no way the government can justify net zero vs chinas output of co2. And thats before you put the tin foil hat on. Im just giving a slightly open mind view here. The facts are the conspiracy theory camp vs government are now 20 to 0 for being right.
We haven’t even seen the corporate demand yet. They require multiyear transformational projects to adopt ai at scale. Then look at the latest release from google today. You are now seeing agentic ai embedded into your daily applications. Here you are adding 2 cells together while a McKinsey team is agenting away over your shoulder. Corporate will replace half their staff with agentic ai agents, embedded into their applications and will pay even higher prices than what you are seeing today for services level, uptime, dedicated racks. Irens time will come. Every time you hear there is not enough compute, i get slightly sceptical, but omg the level of demand is going to be wild.
The biggest upgrade is the Notebook Agent.
Instead of asking:
“Summarize this document.”
You can ask:
“Research this market, compare the options and build me a complete action plan.”
It handles the steps for you.
I think your terminology of “suffered losses” is a tad misleading, no offence intended. This is the stock market and it has endless drawdowns, it’s not a loss, just a natural up and down cycle. LASA is gifting people a chance to DCA into one of the biggest transformational industries our lifetime has ever seen. We are going from horse and cart technology straight to flying car, go jetsons. Imagine where we are going to be 1 year from now.
This is a very one dimensional view of tokenomics. I could use the same comparison, a Casio watch is cheap vs a Rolex. I can’t see the usa gov using a Chinese token service atm. The bigger picture is, you still need to factor in service levels, capacity, uptime, availability, sovereignty. These all contribute to the cost. Then what is not factored in, the rush from Fortune 500 and pre booking future capacity, they are slow to move, and these are big transformational projects and omg the rush will be biblical. For me thats phase 1, then phase 2 will be agent to agent use of tokens. This is not horse and cart moving to car technology, this is horse and cart technology going straight to flying car technology. Overtime these numbers will come down and some will come up and customers can blend their models. We are still at day 1 and it’s very exciting to see. Barrel of Intelligence is a bit cliche, do better Chamath, maybe BOT or BOTs
for the moment.
The strategy is super clear, agentic/ ai agent compute is going to replace humans in Fortune 500 companies. These companies move slow and workloads will migrate from aws to neo clouds, replacing humans with ai agents. The compute required for this will be significantly higher than traditional compute. If you look at anthropic in march, i think they were down for 3-4hrs. 1 hour a year is bad for corporates. IREN will provide sovereign data protection and service level agreements. They will charge accordingly. To lock yourself into a hyperscaler now is leaving money on the table and locking yourself in. Then to play this out, the more the hyperscalers consume with big low value tin deals the more this plays into the hands of IREN of corporate high margin. Ie, it consumers all the available compute and makes us more scarce. Corporates are slow to move, they need big transformational projects to get to agentic compute, but when they move, IREN will be sold out in one quarter. I’m expecting a few deals per quarter of $100m pa then this will start to snow ball. They will be out of capacity very quickly.
Young people are better off to leave the country, build their wealth, in a low tax country, come back after 10+ years and then enter the market.
What is else is not being considered?
Property prices will either come down by 20-30% as you have to earn more for the same property, alternatively if the price stays flat, that same property will now cost you 20-30% if your income comes from investment gains.
Now consider a 20-30% rise in property prices over the next 5 years, a likely scenario, as so much local wealth and cashflow has been sucked out of the system. The government will be forced to flood the system with even more immigration just to keep cash flow in the economy.
If your income source is from gains, then that same house for a local will now require an extra 40-50% of income and you are competing with immigration folk coming from a low tax country.
@KatyKray73 New data centre designs use zero water for cooling https://t.co/2DNZRLdKTH and check out the stats for water usuage in the US Data centers: ~17 billion gallons, direct.
⛳ Golf courses: ~750 billion gallons.
🌰 California almonds alone: ~1.6 trillion gallons.
A sovereign deal would make sense from an Anthropic or OpenAI stance, to be able to offer in country data and physical segmentation of racks or buildings to governments, financial organisations or weyland-yutani. You have already seen three examples this week of sovereign usage and security concerns with Ant, MS and FatCat. Reminds me of the early days of cloud data around data location. There was a view back then for a while, that the cloud would never take off.
We replaced our Hubspot instance within 5 hours of Claude coding , it got us to about 90% of the way there, then another 4 weeks part time to really fine tune it. Now more functionality and completely bespoke to our business operations. Integrated a lot more parts of the business and now it accidentally morphed into a business operating system. We are now measuring the profitability and sales numbers in real time, supercharged client onboarding and communication flows. This has now accidentally become a new product to sell. With ai, and agentic ai we have stripped 25% costs out of the business and expecting a significant upside in sales with agentic marketing, sales and onboarding. Hard to say but we are expecting anything from 10x to 100x growth. A two week delivery time has gone from 2 weeks to 15 minutes. Every day this is a learning curve, and the big takeaway is we are still not thinking big and crazier enough. Slight segue, on a side not I’m a huge fan of IREN. Big corporations are slow to move, wait until they catch on that agentic agents will replace bulk staff, we all know that, but the next phase is they will want dedicated racks + service level agreements. They can’t afford to go down, 1 hour a year is regarded as really bad. Look at Anthropic trying to manage their growth with already significant outages and rate limiting on a monthly basis. Large corporations design their systems not to go down. Well played IREN, i see your strategy, this side hustle, focusing on Big Corporations also equals higher margin. Go Anthropic, go IREN !
