NOETIX's new humanoid robot, Hobbs W1, looks surreal, but it's already serving as a guide and receptionist in museums, government halls, and offices.
This user-friendly and practical design integrates a humanoid head assembly, dexterous hands, a wheeled base, an interactive screen, and an information business system. It reduces the feeling of coldness and increases a sense of human-like friendliness, while still being distinct from humans (to some extent mitigating the uncanny valley effect)...
At the same time, it can keep pace with humans, allowing for real-time facial emotion recognition, information synchronization, and natural conversation – all important functions for a service humanoid robot.
I think it also has the potential to be a shopping assistant in the future. Imagine being in a supermarket, wanting to inquire about the location of a new product; Hobbs W1 could lead you to the shelf and even reach out and grab the item for you. You could even scan a QR code on its chest screen to place an order and pay online. It would only require integrating the self-checkout systems commonly found in Chinese supermarkets and convenience stores.
