It's obesity care week - today's topic is childhood obesity! Here are some tips to discuss weight management with your child.
- Avoid blaming your child

- Be an active role model
- Do not pressure your child into talking about their weight
The stress associated with having a poor work/life balance may lead to excess weight gain, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. Separating yourself from your work allows you to focus on your mental health, physical activity, and dietary habits!
The Health At Every Size approach aims to promote weight inclusivity through body acceptance, ending weight discrimination, and focusing on healthy behaviours and balanced lifestyles.
Remember to always look at the quality of your carbohydrates. Complex carbohydrates, like wholemeal bread and brown rice, are high in fibre! Skipping meals will only make you tired and more inclined to snack on high-sugar foods. Lastly, not all low-fat foods are healthy!
Often times, people struggling with obesity are labelled as "lazy", without consideration of the various factors that lead to the disease. Obesity is extremely complex and multifaceted, involving other factors such as socioeconomic status, genetics, and psychological disorders.
Eating too many calories in a day is linked to obesity and an increased risk of chronic disease. It is important to maintain a good relationship with food and treat yourself only occasionally. Make sure to eat enough nutrients to keep yourself full and functioning at your best!
Weight control can be a tough battle, especially in today's age of social media pressure and misinformation. We often place emphasis on counting calories and diet restrictions to lose weight, but there are many effects of eating too little and not getting enough nutrients!
