I'm appalled at how often I still see the 1960's "sit still in desks in straight rows" teaching method be heralded as the end all be all of what it means to teach and what it means to learn.
End of a unit means I get to see the Ss one pager doodle notes. Love to see what they choose to include and how they color code. I love even more reading Ss reflections at the end of the assessment saying how much doing the doodle notes help them to study!!! @FJHChargers

My kid's school is holding pizza lunch, ice cream and book fair fundraisers, so they can buy more books for the library. This is not what publicly funded education looks like. Does this mean kids who live in impoverished neighbourhoods don't deserve the same books as my kid?

Sadly, I generally assume most are going “through some shit.”
As such, I never assume they’re lazy.
So much more to their lives than my class.
Meeting them where they are goes beyond where they are academically.
I meet them “humanly.”
