For me, one of the key take-aways from this module is that a good leader doesn't mean an easy path, but trust that your actions to forge your own trail will be worth the effort @patriciamannixm @niamhickey@FCathain#pdsl#leadership#Leaders_SoE
Latonya Wilkins' focus on empathy, curiosity and psychological safety as integral to leadership reaffirms my thinking that if you want to be a good leader, the foundation is that of a good person #pdsl#leadership @patriciamannixm @FCathain@niamhickey@Leaders_SoE
If this had been included in the department literature in the first round of predictive grades when they told us to be aware of our unconscious bias, it would have been a lot clearer!
It is very easy to lean into our biases and leave them unchecked. Being aware of the types of biases in the workplace is the first step to examine our unconscious biases.@patriciamannixm @niamhickey@FCathain#pdsl#leadership
Leading from behind is valuable for many genuine reasons, but I couldn't help seeing the funny side of this! #pdsl#leadership @patriciamannixm @FCathain@niamhickey
Been thinking a lot about how feedback and culture could influence one another so much. A toxic culture could easily be tipped by a regular constructive feedback practice. Build people up. #pdsl#leadership@FCathain @patriciamannixm @niamhickey#Leaders_SoE
It can't be coincidental that the dark aspects of school culture that students experience, cliques, humiliation, isolation, are what toxic staffroom culture looks like. Time needs to be invested in positive culture shift #pdsl @patriciamannixm @FCathain@niamhickey@Leaders_SoE
Given the benefits of coaching that extend beyond the workplace & the fact that a large %age of long term illness leave is stress related, I can't see why schools aren't racing to embed coaching practices in their schools #psdl#leadership@FCathain @patriciamannixm @niamhickey
I cant help thinking of this in light of the self-awareness needed for good #leadership We can only build new cultures in a workplace with new bricks! Let go of the old, reflect on the self in order to bring positive change #pdsl@FCathain @patriciamannixm @niamhickey
@DebbieM48814550@niamhickey @patriciamannixm @PDST_leadership That one really resonated with me. We have more ways to stay connected than ever yet we're more isolated. It takes a village to raise a child, and it shouldn't stop when we get to adulthood #TribeForLife
Simon Weil's question "what are you going through?" has so many different applications beyond teaching and mentoring. It's a question that would appear to address not just the situation, but the emotional experience too. Love it. #pdsl @patriciamannixm @niamhickey@FCathain
When the people who are supposed to lead don't do it as they should, true leadership can come from surprising places #pdsl @patriciamannixm @niamhickey@FCathain https://t.co/wkMjP2SrD9
I can't help but wonder if the element of doubt involved in reflection could contribute to the feeling of imposter syndrome that teachers seem to experience. #pdsl@niamhickey @patriciamannixm
